StormGryffen
Recently started a new game and Heimskr is very quiet ... he doesn't preach the word of Talos at all unless you approach and talk to him. This is super weird because I've played this game like 30 times an an imperial without issue and this is my intended Stormcloak playthrough. The only two mods I have that affect whiterun are The Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch and After The Civil War - Siege Damage repairs, but the latter mod hasn't been updated in 2 years and was working fine on my playthroughs in December. Is anyone else having this issue? Any suggestions? Other "recent" additions to my game include the most recent creation club content, but that's it. I have all creation club content. It should be noted that I'm about level 10 and have gone back to Whiterun several times after leaving to quest and this issue has not changed. I've not joined either side of The Civil War yet and have just been doing sidequests. I have not yet gone into Bleak Falls Barrow to do main quest stuff. Thanks for any help. Edit: Nevermind, I fixed it. I started a fresh save which may have done it, but I also installed the unofficial creation club patches, so one of those two things fixed the issue. Sandatharius
I don't know.....back when the game was released, I desperately tried to find a way to shut that guy up. To have him permanently quiet just by accident sounded like godsend to me! lol!
StormGryffen
I don't know.....back when the game was released, I desperately tried to find a way to shut that guy up. To have him permanently quiet just by accident sounded like godsend to me! lol! Haha, I know what you mean. I wouldn't have cared so much but I was playing for the Stormcloaks and really kind of just wanted the whole ambient experience of fighting for Talos and all. It struck me as really unfortunate that I've had like 30 imperial playthroughs of Heimskr shouting at me to love Talos and the one playthrough where I would have been all "LOVE TALOS OR I KILL YOU" he was all like "..." In retrospect, it's kind of amusing. Like he was thinking "Whoa man, I love Talos too but we can dial it back a little, you're doing enough for the both of us. I'll just.. I'll just stand here in case anyone has questions, but you need to do less murders."

TollHouseBookie
For anyone still looking for a solution that doesn't involve starting a new game or uninstalling stuff, there are some console commands you can try. The usual warning applies: don't monkey with console commands if you don't know what you're doing. If you do know what you're doing with the console, try the following commands in the following order: prid 1a682ssq 3a15aForceRefIntoAlias Heimskr This assigns Heimskr's refID to the quest that makes him preach, which should get him going again.
