Guest deleted80903
So with the advent of SSE Fixes and SSE Engine Fixes we actually have FOUR different memory manager/memory allocation methods available. They are: (1) Skyrim SE's normal memory allocation. (2) SSE Engine Fixes' alternate memory manager, which (if I understand everything correctly) requires the extra .DLL and preloader. INI description: "Disables Skyrim's memory manager in favor of standard allocation (Use OS Allocators), can help with ILS." (3) TBBMalloc option from SSE Engine Fixes. (4) SSE Fixes' memory allocator, which the INI describes as "Same OSAllocator option as in vanilla Skyrim Crash Fixes." I'm not sure if this is the same as (2). I have a very stable Skyrim SE overall. I can play for a couple hours before hitting either a freeze or infinite load screen (usually the latter), generally around 9MB of RAM usage. Since I know the warning signs, I can generally save pretty close to a program failure and haven't ever lost much progress. But I still want more stability. So here my questions begin: What are the differences between these four memory management options?Which option is going to be the most stable? Are any of these options better for loading speeds and preventing infinite load screens? The TBBMalloc option crashes my game on startup, every time. Are there extra drivers or libraries I need to install to be able to try this option? Thanks for any insights! Mel
Anselmp
Many years ago on the old IBM mainframe we had a debugging program that enabled me to step through a user program, at each stage with the ability to check files etc to see what had changed. It cannot be beyond the bounds of possibility to devise such a program for Bethesda products. I'm sure it would be worth a lot of money. Two hours does not seem very long if it is one playthrough. Switching characters without coming out altogether seems to shorten it. If the system shows stress, taking it easy, going home and offloading, sending a follower home, going somewhere smaller and quieter, all seem to help. But I don't think stability is what we expect of Skyrim, where even the plots are designed with unpleasant surprises.
