well what you really model is up to you, of course :)

but if i had to choose between H&K G41 and H&K G36, i would choose the G36 ;)

I'll take the roller-locked HK (G41) any day of the week. :)

You can run over any of the roller-locked HK's with a truck and they keep on ticking. Try that with any polymer-based weapon like a G36! That's the sort of durability and rock-solid reliability I love in a battlefield weapon.

Every gun has its faults, and yes, many soldiers complained about the weight of the G3A3 systems. But soldiers complained about the weight of the BAR, BREN, M1919, and Garand but they went on to win wars with them and utterly love those weapons in the process. On the battlefield I'll take a reliable, heavy gun over a finicky light one any day of the week!

Sadly, for all my interest in the G41 I've never had the pleasure of seeing one in real life, let alone firing one. I have fired an HK93 with a Fleming sear pack as well as an HK53 so I have an idea of what it would be like - but the G41 including a bolt hold-open device like the MP5/10 and using M16 pattern magazines with the same basic system of operation as the oft-proven G3A3 and HK33 just seems like a pure winner to me.

The original proprietary HK magazines for the HK33/53/93 are much better in design and construction than normal M16 magazines, but HK makes a friggin awesome 'high reliability' steel M16 magazine for use with their HK416 systems. Combine the HK416 mags with a hypothetical G41 "K" variant taking it down to HK53 size with the concave collapsing stock and the semi/full trigger pack from the MP5N, put a 2x20 amber dot ACOG riding top and a Gemtech G5 suppressor up front and you've got my dream 5.56 package. :)
