stars2heaven
So the image is self explanatory. I uninstalled all my textures and it appears this is in vanilla and I just never noticed. Now I notice it all the time and I'm hoping someone knows of a way to fix it. http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u601/stars2heaven1/2012-12-18_00001_zpsefcf2819.jpg If you can't see it very well, there are weird lines right around the edges of the fingers and outside around the fire in sort of globe around the whole hand. In this image I aimed it at the sky to be easier to see. It's always there though. Edit, I've actually started to notice this happening in other locations where there are objects on fire. I don't think this was in vanilla because they are glaringly obvious. I don't think I've installed anything that impacts fires though and uninstalling the textures file had no impact. MShoap13
Could be SSAO artifacting. /Edit: The shadow glow around the right-hand thumb and flames really suggests that it is SSAO induced. Altering the flame meshes may or may not help and there may or may not be a way to flag them to not have SSAO applied. If you're using video card forced SSAO, updated drivers may or may not have a fix. I noticed a massive difference in nVidia's SSAO for Skyrim between 306.97 and 310.70. It's much more pronounced in the newer drivers and has less of a performance hit on High Quality. If you're using ENB SSAO, take it up with Boris over on enbdev. stars2heaven
I don't actually know what SSAO is, but I am not using ENB and I never have. I did update my drivers recently though. I'll look into it.
MShoap13
SSAO is Screen Space Ambient Occlusion. It interprets the shape of objects and applies shading to them to make them appear more 3D. It may just be called Ambient Occlusion in your graphics card control panel.
stars2heaven
Well I disabled ambient occlusion completely and it didn't clear up the issue. Any other ideas?
stars2heaven
Solved: I'm beginning to believe that the first thing one should check when encountering a problem in skyrim is the ini. I had MSAA set to 8 which is apparently too high. I lowered it and everything is fine.
