Vamps and Liches

Now from the Lore (at least what I have seen) A vampire does not die of old age.

The Liches are dead mages who either wanted to be a Liche or was summoned to be a weapon by a more powerful mage.

So...The only reason really to be a Liche or Vamp (aside from the other "abilities" is to be more or less "immortal" time wont kill you but a blade will.

So Im just tryn to figure out why would anyone want to be a Liche? I mean honestly everyone going to see you and try to kill you.

so according to the uesp wiki they have 100 frost and psn resist, -25 fire resist, 25 magic resist, 25 spell absorption 25 spell reflect...Thats decent if a Liche would wear at least enchanted clothes...

Why not just be a vampire?

# Resist Disease 100

# Resist Paralysis 100

# Weakness to Fire 50

# Resist Normal Weapons 20

# Sun Damage 8

and you can pass as human and have gear and all that good stuff....

Yes its hard to be bitten and survive a encounter with a vampire but isnt it hard to turn yourself into the undead?

Vampires go insane without blood, so being one doesn't really appeal to the type of mage that makes their home in a Cave/Ruined Fort/Ayleid Ruin. There are perks to the undead seeing you as one of their own, and said subtype wouldn't particularly care about their ability to socialize with those who would be hostile to liches. Also, judging by one somewhat bonkers but quite knowledgable Necromancer's journal, it seems as if it somehow makes you more powerful as well. I find it's best to just pretend that liches can equip items.

Another way of looking at it is the general attitudes of Necromancers and vampires. Since Traven came to power, Cyrodiil's remaining Necromancers are more-or-less cultists, so becoming one of Mannimarco's favoured would certainly seem like the way to go. Also, vampires hate Necromancers fiercely. It's very unlikely they would turn one who asked, and would quite likely go the extra mile to make sure any necromancers they run into don't survive the encounter. This means that, even if inclined, a Necromancer would have to create a situation where a vampire would bite them without causing too much further damage. Especially if working alone, such a plan would be highly risky at best.

Liches have more power with spells and such. so it probably explains why the mages want to become liches. They live forever, and their power grows rapidly.

Vampires- They start of weaker, able to fit in with normal human, and are not affected by sunlight.

As each day passes without having blood, their cravings for blood become madness, making them more and more uncontrolable, their power increases, takes damage from the sun, and starts to be "revealed as a monster" rather than a human, turning every possible guard in the city onto you :P

Vampires don't go old, thats true. But why do they look like they aged by about 40+ years?

In the construction set, the youngest character being 15 years old, and the oldest being at 65.

How is it, that when you're character is at either end of the margin, they still look similar?

The 15 year old looks like a frail old man, with paler skin. I find it unusual at best :P Bethesda didn't really think about that.

I think that was Azura... Namira's got a significantly more unpleasant quest planned for those who seek her favour.

As for lore, I can't find it on the UESP wiki, but I seem to recall that vampires were the result of Molag Bal reanimating a corpse from one of his rampages.

Thank you, its not very informative on thier creation but the wiki says Molag Bal

"He is also the god of rape and is said to be the father (along with Vivec, whom he seduced) of a population of mutant degenerates living in the Molag Amur region of Morrowind. Most disturbingly, this race may have been the first eventual vampires"

there we have it, thank you for the bit of Lore I just couldnt remember where I saw it, I remember seeing it but briefly and I couldnt find it again. Thank you
