EvilPhoenix
Yesterday i created new topic here since i had problem with "CTD on startup".I fixed by myself, since no answers helped me with this problem, and waiting too long is not an option.I created this thread to share some of information on how to fix CTD.Some of fixes are old and well known, but some people are lazy or just have problems with language,so i will explain everything here.Simple as possible. If you still do not understand anything then i highly recommend to visit a doctor  Okay, lets start. 1)Use BOSS or other similar tool that can sort all of your mods (plugins).Default way of sorting via launcher is not recommended !!!.Bad sorting  . 2)Update your mods. Many of plugin-based mods required to be updated after some official patches.I recommend you to use search function on Skyrim Nexus and type UPDATE MANAGER.A very good tool and i think of one the best mods that exist for Skyrim.Simple and easy to use.I know that some users like me do not want to use hundreds of tools.Update manager will show if new version of your downloaded mod is available. 3)Always read install/compabilty/errors sections of mods. Some mods require other mods to work. :excl: 4)Sound fix.It is very old as dinosaur and was already fixed, but still.Right mouse button on your sound icon (near time and language bar). Sounds - Playback - "Your device" (Speakers and Dual Headphones it is called on my laptop) - Double click - Advanced - Default format - Choose 16 bit 48000 Hz (DVD quality). Some threads was about 24 bit 48000 Hz (Studio quality). :ermm: 5)Be sure that your mods compatible with each other.TE5EDIT can help with that.I do not use it myself so i will not help you with that. 6)Corrupted save. That is a problem too.I never had CTD because of this, but still.Be sure to disable mod that you do not want to use anymore. Then remove it.Then load your game and make another save.Load your save and play. There was thread about corrupted save. Many players deleted plugins without disabling them first and problems with save.I never disabled plugins. :whistling: 7)Ghost files.Yes.Not very popular name in Skyrim bugs sections of internet.I had CTD on startup because of this. After last update and/or DLC my game stopped working.I tried to find solution on internet, but no help. But i found many people with same problem.Behold the solution to your problem.Open your Data folder and rename all files with GHOST extenstions.I had Skyrim.esm.GHOST instead of Skyrim.esm.Same problem with Dawnguard DLC,Iorveth armor mod and Heathfire DLC.I do not know what can cause this yet.GHOST files will also not appear in loadorder list of your launcher (Skyrim.esm will appear in BOSS). :psyduck: I hope that will help. There are many threads on the internet with different, but all of them have too much information that you do not need. Also many users here like myself not "English speakers",so i tried to make it as simple as i could. 8)
