I voted for Clover because I just love her spunk and other features.

However the one that I think is 'best' is actually not even on the list.

Sydney.

Why? Because she is a trader and when I'm in the mood for some trading love out in the field one

can simply engage here with a bit of console work to open the barter menu and you got yourself

not only a damn good fighter but someone who has ammo on hand or is willing to buy that suit of

clunky Enclave armor.

She can be 'trained' to not follow you remorsefully and will 'stay' if you need her to if you use a mod that

allows your character to remove quest items from inventory (in this case The Declaration of Independence).

She can be stripped of that damn SMG and armor and be equipped however one likes, using console commands of course.

Yeah, I'd have to say Sydney mainly on account she is a damn fine trader. She is also full of vim too and

makes a pretty damn good bosom buddy for Clover.

Her semi permanent snarl grows on ya.

Fawkes is the only choice.

  • He is the only one who isn't in my way when in combat
He can actually make a kill himself
He is 200 years old
    He has most brainpower
    Also most firepower

Tried most companions but fired them all within one day. The only bad thing about Fawkes is that I need good karma to have him and I prefer to be evil. Fawkes also have the coolest voice acting, not counting Mr. Burke (because he has the same voice as Imperial guards from Oblivion  )

Fawkes and Butch...Fawkes is bad-a$$ and deadly with his gatling leaser and actually he is the most intelligent dude i met in the wasteland...exept uncle leo...butch is kinda cool and i love to have him around equipped with 10 granades, a chineese AR and a combat armor. i find dogmeat useless..i dont get you guys so exited about his abillity to bring stuff to you...its way more fun to collect it yourself...he's cute but annoying,

I would say Fawkes since he is the most intelligent of the bunch and I like to talk with him... Otherwise I would also prefer "No followers" since they... are useless, tend to die pretty quickly and worst of all, they dont talk much... If you play Baldur's Gate II yuo would know what I mean... In fact they are really "followers" not "companions"

I still feel alone out there even with the followers behind me... also they dont know how to sneak, burst into rage and ruin my gameplay... But really the worst part is they dont talk... I would also carry another gun but not them... I mean think of Keldorn, Aerie, the gnome illusionist or Minsc!!! (they are all from BGII) Have you ever seen a companion as colorful as Minsc? After seeing those companions, Fawkes or Paladin or even dogmeat is not quenching my thirst for quality companions... Even watching Sulik in Fallout II was fun, but not the followers in Fallout III

Fawkes is actually a she. Weird things happen when you become a supermutant...

I tend to not use the vanilla companions. I prefer some of the new modded ones, Kelsey, Jessi, Bittercup or the raider companion, Angel. If I had to pick one of the vanilla peeps, it would be dogmeat.
