FrenchieDwemer
Hi everyone. Long story short => what the title says. Many NPCs in my game have mismatching body/head textures. For instance : https://imgur.com/Y2qJDD6 Margaret here has a pink face, but a yellowish body. Kinda hard to tell on this screenshot, it's a lot more noticeable in game. https://imgur.com/DIhY8Bd Likewise the slave on the right has a brown face, but a pale body. ==> I already added "bloadfacegenheadegtfiles=1" to both Fallout.ini in My Documents and Fallout_default.ini in the main game folder for good measure. Doesn't do a thing. ==> I'm only running a couple mods, and none of them have anything to do with character models/textures, they're all mostly just personal compilations of weapon/armor replacers I found here and there and gathered under a single .esp. I also made a mod to disable auto-aim, and another one to disable the goofy gory effects that come with the Bloody Mess perk. That's it. I didn't change the appearence of any NPC in the game, at most I only tinkered with their inventory/outfits. Disabling all mods doesn't do anything. I do have a loose file under data/meshes/characters - I tweaked one of the base game haircuts a while ago, nothing major but I read some stuff on other threads about how that could confuse the game with regards to the .BSA archives and whatnot ? Deleting it didn't fix my issue anyhow. I hadn't played this game in years so I can't really remember if this is a recent glitch or I just didn't pay attention to it before. Either way I doubt it has something to do with my mods, but who knows. Lastly, disabling/re-enabling archive invalidation in the Mod Manager doesn't work either. ==> Not all NPCs are affected, it seems pretty random as far as I can tell. Some look perfectly fine and other's don't. I tried exporting the faulty NPCs' facegen data in the GECK, but to no avail. Now the funny thing is I actually know how to fix this. Toggling "can be all races" in the GECK seemingly does the trick. But I would have to do that for every NPC in the game that doesn't already have that box checked, and that just seems incredibly tedious and unnecessary. Surely there has to be a better way to go about it ? Any ideas ? EDIT : So I did some more testing and, exporting the facegen data of those NPCs from the GECK does work... not for all of them though, and I'm still ending up with tons of loose files - about 1 go worth of them, total. I'd rather my game worked properly in the first place. Extracting the very same files from Fallout-textures.bsa and putting them in the correct folder, besides, does not work for some reason ? It's beyond tiresome. Edited April 24, 2020 by FrenchieDwemer
Shabdez
In Skyrim the name of the folder with the facegen data must exactly match the filename of the plugin they come with. Did you problably rename a plugin?
FrenchieDwemer
I didn't. I didn't make any custom NPC or change the appearance of any existing character, so what I have now are 6 folders for the base game and each of the 5 DLCs. Goes without saying I didn't rename the .esm's for these ones.

FrenchieDwemer
Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be it either. I even tried running a new game with no mods enabled, no loose files in the base game folder and the .ini tweaks on, and spawned some of the faulty NPCs in vault 101 using the console. The issue still persists. I'm kind of dumbfounded to be honest, but I think I'm just going to have to deal with it - I played for a couple hours yesterday after exporting the facegen data, and it appears to fix it for most NPCs as far as I can tell, without noticeably affecting the performance/stability.
