synaptyx
Hey guys, The final stages of Dawnguard are killing me and seem to have wrecked Skyrim. :( The first problem was with filling the basin from the Initiates Ewer. I found that if Serana was not with me, the water would drain after filling the basin, but would not run along the channel in the floor to the door. Weirdly, when Serana caught up. The water flowed and the door unlocked. Once inside the Inner Sanctum, at the point of confronting Vythur, he would unleash the frozen Chaurus and the quest would stop there. A few reloads and he would unleash some frozen Falmer and sometimes an atronach, or two as well, but even though Serana once said that he was 'bringing the ceiling down' that would never actually happen (this one will come back to haunt me later). Frustrated, I used console commands to advance the quest. I found that the lowest setstage number to get Vythur off his butt was 132 "setstage DLC1VQ07 132." With this set, I could follow him through the door on to the very glitched out balcony (missing mountains - parts of the Wayshrine and floor don't appear 'til you're actually on top of them, etc). His dialogue with Serana continues, we fight, he dies, Gelebor appears with the newly raised Wayshrine, we talk and he tells me to take Auriel's bow. I had to repeat this part many times because for the most part, the bow appears in my inventory, and the quest 'Touching the Sky' is marked complete, except for the portion 'Retreive Auriel's Bow.' "setstage DLC1VQ07 200" would NOT resolve this for me. I could either collect it and not be able to continue my dialogue with Gelebor and Serana, or I could mark the quest complete "setstage DLC1VQ07 200" without the bow in my possession, be able to further the dialogue with Gelebor, and Serana, but be unable to take the Bow. In both scenarios, it was random whether the Wayshrine would actually become active, or not! One runthrough actually worked with only the use of "setstage DLC1VQ07 132" to get Vythur to move to the balcony. The rest of the quest, through sheer luck I presume, functioned as expected, except that the balcony continued to behave in a visually glitchy manner and the Inner Sanctum roof did not collapse. When at last "Retreive Auriel's Bow" was succesfully completed I could engage Gelebor in conversation, and obtain blessed, Sunhallowed arrows. If the Wayshrine portals became active, Serana and I could converse, and were able to leave and could continue to the next quest "Kindred Judgment." Unfortunately, during "Kindred Judgment" I would be randomly pulled back to the Inner Sanctum Balcony in a blinding flash, and a short cutscene of the destruction of the roof would play out. If Serana was with me, she'd ask if I was allright, and once my character stood up again, I could move, but not interact with anything, anyone, or access my inventory. If Serana was not with me, My character would witness the destruction of the ceiling, and be stuck there without any way to move at all - a complete lack of control. One runthrough allowed me to get so far as to complete "Kindred Judgement," but the glitch still manifested afterwards, thus pretty much ruining the entire rest of the game. Also, the music is stuck playing the battle music over and over again in a loop. TLDR: FFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU...
