Guitar Hero

Does anyone like Guitar Hero? Or Rockband? Well, does anyone like it sober? Do other musicians find it really annoying listening to people boast about how they can do Through the Fire and Flames on expert? IT ISN'T A REAL GUITAR, FILTHY WANNABE! Good god, I hate it so much I want to grate off a layer of skin and jump into a bath filled with vinegar.

I heard that there is a video on youtube, dave mustaine cant play holy wars in Guitar Hero :) I dont think many musicians take those games seriously, as a guitar player for 15 years, I only tried frets on fire, it is fun for a while, but after trying to play Trooper and sucked badly, I decided to stick with my fellow Jackson DK2 :)

Actually after seeing the Air Guitar competitions in USA, I decided not to take seriously the people who play air guitar or play guitar hero or that genre... After all some of them say that they suck at guitar but want to feel like a guitar player, so that is their way of satisfying themselves... I mean I will never be a Tracy Mc Grady my whole life but playing nba, I quench my thirst for basketball... See it that way, it will bother you less that way :)

I have not played it myself, but I can see there are a fair amount of people that enjoy it. Like a lot of other things I don't like, but have a huge following.

In the end of the day, like everything else, it comes down to opinion. If people are having fun with it and it does not hurt me or anybody else, why should I care?

Contrary to what you may think, to pick up the guitar or bass is not so hard. Only, to play it well (and I would not profess to be so good myself) takes a lot of time and effort. Playing a real instrument also gives more freedom and greater satisfaction. On top of this, to buy a cheap guitar is not much more (if less) than an Xbox 60 with guitar hero. To get a really cheap guitar is only a very tiny bit more than an Xbox 360. I would garuntee that inside a day you could learn to read tab, a dozen tunes and a few scales. This would give you some freedom to get rockin on your own. Not that you even need that, the Sex Pistols is a good example of my point; none of them can really play their instruments. This may seem like a rant (which I suppose it is) but I think that playing a real instrument is a great thing and strongly encourage people to take it up. Preferably something other than a guitar; in my school for every 1 bassist there's 50 guitarists! How can you have a band like that! <sigh>

Hmmm, I see your point.

BUT I think that even a cheap guitar is much better than guitar hero, simply because guitar hero is just pressing buttons and twiddling a little thing, while a guitar is much more complex.

Still what am I saying, I suck at both.

*STEREOTYPE MANIAAAA*

Seriously, people, all the things all of you just said are big fat lies, I play Guitar Hero.

It isn't even easy, in fact, some songs are harder than a real guitar, not all, though.

And it isn't to be compared, how can one compare a real guitar with a plastic thing that has been made for the entertainment of those that do not have the money for a real guitar with all the things it brings?

And yes, there are some players who are in fact crazy, such as the "oh so famous" James Like Coulter.

Anyhow, I just want to say that Guitar Hero is just a game, and not to be compared with a real guitar since they fall in different entertainment categories.

Big fat lie eh? I just get very irritated about guitar hero. Why pretend to do something when you can do it for real? And "falling into diferent entertainment categories" is dependant on what mood and mindset you're in when you play the guitar. When I decide to bang out some tunes really loudly, it is the same type of entertainment. However, if i'm practicing for my grade exams or my GCSE composition, it isn't. Not to say I don't enjoy that though.

I think the point is GH is a game, not a guitar simulation. As Macmert said, if you can't really play basketball, but you want to, you might play an NBA game. Do you get annoyed by people bragging about making some impossible 3 point shot in that? It's just a game, but maybe it will inspire someone to actually try to play the real guitar, or drums, etc.

And yes, I do play Guitar Hero, and have played guitar realo for fifteen years. And yes, too many people do play guitar, need to learn bass, drums, or something.
