simon445
Ok, so I started out playing oblivion on the xbox 360 it was great, best game ever, but I started seeing all sorts of things about mods. So in all my infanite wisdom i went out and bought a emachines computer off of craigslist. Popped in the game, and it didn't even work, 20 minutes of research later my graphics card was bad, so I spend 30 bucks to upgrade that, wait a week it gets delivered, and now I can only run the game on ultra low, which is fine, but alot of the mods I want to use, and the different things I want to do, I can't do. So for now I am just going to run around and learn about console commands and things like that. That is, at least until I save up the money to by a new computer, the new computer I want to by if the Gateway FX 6800-01E, it looks like a sweet deal, but I am new to this computer thing, and basically what I am asking from you guys, is if you could tell me wether or not this computer will be able to play oblivion on ultra high graphics settings with everything turned up, and will it run all the DLC and mods that I can get. Any and all help is greatly appreciated, Simon

phillygirl41
people do use them. Something about the way you install OB, but not in Programs. I would check the official forums as I think it's stickied over there

bben46
Here is the info on Vista from the Wiki: Quoted from the Oblivion Mods FAQ WIKI Using VISTA only: If you have downloaded and installed, and the mod is appearing in your Data Files List, but not in your game. Then you should reinstall Oblivion into a different directory instead of the default. Installing mods on a Windows Vista system is bit trickier than it is on Windows XP due to Vista's increased security. For best results, it is recommended to install Oblivion to a location other than the default C:\Program Files\ folder. Another location such as C:\Oblivion\ or D:\games\Oblivion\ will work better. This will avoid the file permission problems many users have experienced due to the increased security restrictions Vista places on the Program Files folder. Wiki entry on installing Oblivion in Vista: http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Windows_Vista If you can't, or just don't want to reinstall Oblivion, try this. Vista users may have to disable a security function known as UAC. If you have downloaded and installed, and the mod is appearing in your Data Files List, but not in your game check to see if UAC is turned on. If so. Look here for instructions on how to turn it off. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vis...-windows-vista/
leetgamer
That's why I love Windows XP. Vista is so unpredictable, and very unstable in some cases. Even God has an XP, dontcha know ?
