Deleted1308005User
Okay, I just started to work on my Project I've been planning for some time, and I'd love to hear peoples opinion on this idea of mine. (Or well, someone suggested it, I understood it wrong, and that's how the idea was born) Anyway! I am going to make different versions of most armors in different materials. (It couldn't sound more weird than that  ) Visually different, and with different stats. (Maybe, still gotta think about that)Also, some armors have those "loin cloths" on them, I think I might try those to visually similar to the original set. For example, Iron cuirass made of ebony would have similar loincloth to that which Ebony Armor has. For example, you could make armor that looks like Iron Cuirass, but it's made of Glass. (Stat-, weight-, and perk-wise) (Also, it's the first armor I made, wanted to start from "hardest" so rest would be easier)Or you could make Dwarven Armor that is made of Ebony Metal. It'd be heavier than normal Dwarven Armor, but it would be better in stats. (Or well, I still gotta think how I make the armor ratings, weights and such. ) I've only made one set thus far, but as It took me only couple of hours to make it, I'd say it's not gonna take eternity to develop this mod in full form. (It still needs some work, but it looks really nice in-game.)(after all, now I've got one set which can be re-altered when making other variations. At least Ebony is using similar environment system as Glass uses so it shouldn't take much time to make that) Also, here's what I am going to do: PLANNED ARMORS:Iron Cuirass (Not the banded one. It's just ugly , however, if popular demand is high, I could make it too. For now I think it's just too similar to Cuirass version)Dwarven Armor Ebony ArmorSteel or Steel Plate Armor Elven Armor (And possibly later)BladesGlassDaedric PLANNED MATERIALS:GlassEbonyDwarvenSteelElven (And Possibly Later)DaedricSilver And a bit explanation about planned features here.I'm gonna skip the "organic" armors (Dragonbone, Dragonscale, Hide armors, Leather Armors) . I don't see any parts on those which could be logically changed. Feel free to point out some if you disagree. This is quite "Heavy" oriented, I still need to think how I am going to implement "originally light" armors. (like glass and elven)As if it's made of Ebony, it is heavy. But I know I am going to get some angry posts for that. Why Daedric and Silver "possibly later"? I have no idea what those would look like. Silver would be like steel.. But what's the difference? I'd like to see some ideas for that. Soo, tell me what you think. Is it worth to spend time on making this? Is there anyone who would want mod like this? Here's a picture of the glassy version of Iron Cuirass. (Also, I've still got to figure out how I will sort the armors.. 9 "Glass Armors" is just a bit too much, even if you have the inventory icons.) Also, Curses. I had to resize the image, lower the quality and so on to be able to upload it, thus it looks sort of weird now.I will release some sort of "Alpha" once I am completely done with Iron Cuirass. (Glass, Dwarven, Ebony and possibly Steel version fully made) Edited December 25, 2012 by Guest
Voodo1314
I really like the idea. However, in the photo it looks as if only the colour has changed. I think the new armours need the same textures of the armors. eg. the iron armor will look the same as glass armour but have the iron pieces. Therefore it just looks like the iron armour has been made with the same materials as the glass armour. I personally would like to see leather variants. Such as iron armor that has been made with hard boiled leather.
Deleted1308005User
Aye, leather is something I can't do.Also, I don't really understand what you mean by "I think the new armours need the same textures of the armors. eg. the iron armor will look the same as glass armour but have the iron pieces." Probably showing off the Glass variant wasn't wisest thing to do, as it's quite harsh and ugly in the picture.In-game it looks different as it shines and such. But yes, it is pretty much just retexturing/changing colors. Deleted1308005User
Mm-m.. I guess I could give it a go. I'll try creating new normal map. (it's something I didn't do earlier), as I could believe it might have quite impact on the look of the armor + doing some fixes on the armor texture. Deleted1308005User
Any better? At least color scheme is similar to weapons now. (Note: Armor is a bit different. it's even more blue)did couple of changes to texture, made it a bit more blueish, now it looks more like Glass. (Though still not perfect)And normal map needs more work. Normal map is now fine, did some fixes on it. Armor is shiny, pants are not. And it doesn't look like plastic. *applause*At least I know now how to do those. Just.. Gawd. Now that I compare the first picture on this one, I don't even know how I dare to say I was going to release that one. It's just too green. Gonna flip all the colors closer to this one. Voodo1314
Yes, much better! The shine and other work has helped a lot. I also recommend changing the colour of the leather and fur so it fits more so with the glass armor image. I look forward to seeing the other variations! Deleted1308005User
I don't really know if I want to change color of the fur and leather on that one.I mean, the original Glass armor is sort of yellow/orange Green/blue color scheme, the dark orange leather suits it quite well. As for the ebony.. It's quite ugly at the moment. I'd need to somehow "polish" the armor texture and make it to look like totally-not-beaten-by-hammer. Voodo1314
Just to help the 'creative juices' here is a link to a retextured iron armour very similar to what you are doing. The author has never released this armor so you may be able to get very close to it. Hopefully you can aim for a similar style :) http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/images/106418
Bjornheim
It just doesn't look right =/it just looks like a recolour of the original armor (which it pretty much is), have you thought about makeing your very own armor? modeling your own armor? Then it would be a great armour proberly
