Help with creating a new Player Attribute

Hello, so I am very very very new to PC gaming (just got my first pc last week) and modding.

 

I am trying to create a new attribute for the player character, Toxicity. Basically the witcher style toxic level that based on the chems you take you reduce or increase your toxic level, this would then cause you to overdose if you go over it, and it would deal damage at one tier and kill you at the max level.

 

Idea is to make chem usage, even stimpack usage, have a more pro and con system, as the current addiction system is negligible. I want addiction to be harsh, expensive to deal with and for there to be a limit to you being able to just pop 8 chems and 5 stimpacks and some how not die.

 

I was able to make the attribute, apply to the player character but then thats it, I know how to make chems reduce my toxic level, but thats all that happens, I don't know scripting and I wondered if anyone could give me advice on how to make this react to different toxicity levels and refill either over time or at sleep. potentially even learn how to have this toxicity level change based on the SPECIAL stats. I think I know how to make a perk that would increase it.

 

Update: I actually figured it out. So now with a little work, I'll have a working overdose system for the game, my very first mod ever lol so this is pretty awesome, if anyone is interested in this mod idea and may have the knowledge to help make this compatible with other chem mods without having to have people manually edit the files that would be awesome as I want to post this and allow people to use this with Agony or other mods and don't know how to properly post that.
