Friendly fire =/= Assault?

l find it annoying that if l accidentally hit a npc while in combat it counts as assault. assault is me going up to a guy and punching them in the face, not missing the bandit trying to stick their sword in his gut and accidentally shooting ligntning in his face.

l doubt this is possable, but l decided to post anyway just in case.

I'll second this, with those too often times when Friendly suddenly runs into my line of fire to a HOSTILE. That counts too.

Forgive my ignorance, but where is "assault" registered in the game? I've never encountered this assault thing during my play. I've accidentally struck friendlies, but they've only (seemed to) register as protestations... "Hey, we're on the same side!"

Personal Companions - AFT - yes, you'll get that. We are talking about " Friendly Fire " ... usually done by the stupid NPC running into the line of fire at the " last moment " and thus " Hostile " ... IE: Whiterun Guard and Bandits. You fire an arrow at Bandit with a clear clean shot and yes, suddenly, the Guard runs right into the line of fire and gets hit by your arrow. HOSTILE ... or any other faction you did NOT mean to hit, but they, well had a stupid moment!

I had to stop using certain followers because of this. Once they start using aoe spells (like that fool, Marcurio of Riften, spamming chain lightning and getting me bounties) they constantly hit npcs and guards. Occasionally, I'll accidentally shoot one with a bow or spell, or hit them with a sword when the enemy ninja jumps out of the way. I spend a lot of time standing back, unable to swing for fear of hitting a friendly.

Sadly, that is sometimes all you can do, is stand back ... and let the fight continue until all are dead on the ground and / or wounded.

But even then - if one of your Companions hit someone they should not - why do WE SUFFER ...??? Why not arrest - fine or whatever the NPC that hit them!????

if friendly fire doesn't have a fix then I kind of wish it was a crime when an NPC accidentaly hits you. You know when that guy trying to help shoots you in the back. Seems fair to me
