jspencer93
i just bought oblivion and honestly the first thing i thought was, wow why dont skyrim have these spells, these attributes, these weapons and armor, etc. skyrim was dumbed down to far honestly still a great game...just miss how...routine it is. oblivion does require more tactics
Giagun
I don't know about the pre-morrowind games but the combat system in Morrowind was almost non existent, there was no blocking or timing because it was done automatically by dice rolls and all you could do is hit attack. I can't say much about Oblivion because I always played with Deadly Reflex combat mod. Skyrims combat is probably the best in the series. I don't understand how you could say it's worse. Also Oblivion's dungeons and world were very cookie-cutter, copy and paste, and similar. Skyrim's dungeons are all handcrafted and unique. The only things that have been dumbed down are the technical RPG parts like attributes and other statistics. Also I'm pretty sure Oblivion's loot and even what you encountered was even more scaled to your level than Skyrim is.

Almir
Skyrim feels... dull and empty somehow. In Oblivion the cities felt more populated and bigger. I liked the Factions in Oblivion far more than in Skyrim. The Mages Guild in Oblivion had more missions and you needed to put some effort into it before getting into the Arcane University and be finally accepted. In Skyrim you insta join the Mages Guild and its over before you know it and your the Archmage. I wish that Bethesda made a DLC where there are more Factions or groups or even expand the current Guilds. Yes i like Guilds :) In Skyrim, i hate it when i walk into a city and 5 minutes later i have 15 quests in my journal. I walk outside the gate... 2 more quests in the journal. There are a lot of things already mentiond in this tread that i also dislike like the economy or the loot or magic but, mods fixes these issues for me :)
AnimeOtaku102
There's a lot I like about Skyrim, but I agree there's a lot that falls short. I can ignore most of them, but the following just made me put the game down for a month before I could bring myself to play again: Forsworn Conspiracy: right, having the note shoved in my hand was fine, but everything afterward was just bad. You can become Thane of Markarth before starting the Forsworn conspiracy, yet you can't take Thonar and Nepos' journals to the Jarl, blow a giant hole in the conspiracy, and have a good chuckle as Madanach and Thonar get to share a noose. Nope, you have to go to jail and you have to choose between supporting a terrorist or a slaver. Dark Brotherhood: I loved the DB quests in Oblivion and given how Innocence Lost played out, I thought it was going to be awesome given how rich in targets a land locked in civil strife and religious conflict would be. Nope, kill a beggar, kill a lumberjack, kill a meat vendor, etc. etc. Things don't get interesting until the end, but you have to suffer through absolute s*** jobs to get to it - and they're s*** jobs that don't even make sense! The only way the Brotherhood gets jobs is if they hear rumors of someone performing the Sacrament! So everyone knows the client wants to kill someone before the Brotherhood does, then suddenly someone related to the client dies a violent death? Derp? Why the hell are people doing this over nobodies they can kill themselves anyway? Why not a contract on Imperial or Stormcloak soldiers who killed someone's relative? On a particularly cruel Thalmor inquisitor? Or on smugglers, skooma dealers, mimes, murderers, or suspected traitors from the Great War hiding out in Skyrim? College of Winterhold: so in the course of exploring dungeons I happened to pick up that dagger for the heartscales, two of three amulet fragments, and 23 of 24 stones of Barenziah. They're all quest items, so they're stuck in my inventory until I'm forced to join the damn college (and grind up Alteration to master level) before I can get rid of them. Sure, they don't take up any weight, but even with SkyUI the inventory gets cluttered up pretty damn fast, especially if you talk to Vex about the stones before having most of the stones (once had 20 separate entries for the damn stones before I talked to Vex about it with only five of them in my inventory). What the hell was Bethesda thinking locking parts of unrelated side quests behind a faction requirement?

LadyGronak
It seems to be quite simple... bethesda never should've taken away athletics or acrobatics i miss my Khajit jumping of a tower without a bruise where my orc would just be a green crater. Nor should they have taken any of the magic tree's and never the ability to make spells. On the other hand the enchantment and crafting possibilities are interesting enough and for me an improvement for sure. About combat compered with Oblivion, button bashing was always an option and with dual wielding now also a possibility you actually need tactics again. The fact that you can be an Archmage without even knowing how to conjure up a tiny flame is beyond me. I know you throw away an enormous part of the game if you can't join a guild by lack of skills, but there should be an alternative albeit some advising role. All and all i think Skyrim again a good addition to TES games but it could (easily) have been even better.
