Extacide
(Please delete the other topic, thanks; and sorry.) Basically, a new plugin that will add-on and improve the original armory lab. I thought there were too many imbalances and inconsistencies that didn't mesh well with vanilla oblivion, so I decided to organize and begin undertaking this project. Feedback/suggestions/critcism are welcome. I've begun to make an outline of what I'd like to do. I sort of went crazy and listed many more ideas to re-work the entire setup and improve it entirely, to the point it might be a new mod entirely: Balance out the armory - Remove over-appropriated items - Remove expensive, easily vendored items Root out inconstancies - Remove the portals from the entrance of each house - Remove ability entirely to teleport to other houses from the armory lab, other than from the initial house that the user entered from. Re-arrange armory layout to a more logical setup - Have portal (or new trapdoor) lead to an initial hallway - (Possibly) unique hallways for each house in respect to it's city. - Hallway only accessible when armory lab is owned (see scripting below) - Hallway leads to a universal (possibly magic looking door?) that leads to the armory - Initial armory room (instead of mannequins) is a pentagonal shaped room with doors leading in all directions to the various rooms of the armory. OR - Initial armory room (instead of mannequins) is a furnished basement like one of any other house, with other useful commodities. Rather than all rooms connected in sequence, there will be doors that lead to all additions of the armory lab in this central basement room for convenience purposes. Room will be medium sized. Improve armory - Expand mannequin room and add additional mannequins (40 total estimated). - Expand display rooms with at least 1-2 more rows of available displays. - Add library - (Possibly) add a second level for additional Mannequins and display cases that is visible from the entrance across the internal perimeter of each respectful room. - Add additional objects and furnishings to visually improve the aesthetics of the armory and remove the 'empty' feeling. Make the armory a balanced asset that needs to be acquired - Make it so that the portals (or trapdoors) only appear within the house when the armory lab itself is acquired. (Purchased from the appropriate NPC. - Add quest (similar to any house quest) that informs the user the need to purchase furnishings after obtainment of armory lab. - Script each room of the armory to furnish itself when the appropriate furnishings have been obtained (Similar to purchasing furniture for a house.) And, some ideas of how exactly to immerse the armory lab into the world of oblivion without it more or less looking like an obvious and unbalanced addition; This is just one idea, and it would really fit the armory lab into the world of oblivion without it sticking out like most mods do: 1. Make the armory lab a "furnishing" like any other furnishing for the other houses. It will be available on ALL of the vendors that sell the various furnishings in respect to each house and it's respectful town. Once the armory lab itself is purchased, all other instances of the armory lab is removed from the other shops, and then added to each house that the user owns (all of them, but technically only accessible through the houses the user actually owns, because the new entrance will be INSIDE). 2. Once the armory lab is owned, all of the appropriate furnishings will be given to all of the shop keepers that sell the original furniture for each house in respect to the town it's in. Whenever one piece of the armory lab has been purchased, all other instances of it in the other shops are removed. The part that will be hardest for me will be the scripting, since I have no idea how to take a furnished room and make it so that once the proper furnishings are purchased just like the other houses, they appear. I've looked at the house scripts and I've read several scripting guides and I sort of know what to do, but I'm drawing up a blank. If anyone can help me with that, I'd appreciate it. Also, can I technically release this (assuming I finish it, release it as a separate plug-in that would require the original armory lab itself, and then obviously give credit to the original creator) WITHOUT needing permission, or would I have to ask him for it? I don't mind either way, I just don't want to overstep my boundaries to find the creator having my mod taken down because I was infringing upon his rightful mod.
