Custom weapon invisible in NPC inventory

Hello everyone,

 

Ok so i downloaded the following mod: http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/46874

The Aliens M41a Pulse Rifle.

 

Now i am trying to make a custom NPC equip the gun.

I made the following post in the mods comments section but i expect to not receive an answer there any time soon so i hope you can help me out.

Hey i like this gun a lot! Been using it for a while now.

I changed the gunsounds myself with some pulse rifle sounds from AVP2 game because i dont like the original sounds.

 

But i am trying to add the weapon to a NPC i made in the GECK. But even though it's in his inventory according to GECK he does not use it.. Also when i kill the NPC and check his inventory it is not there...

 

Strange thing is, when i drop the pulse rifle next to him and shoot him, he picks it up and uses it. But when i kill him the weapon falls to the ground like any other but it is not in the NPC's inventory!

 

Little help would be much appreciated!

 

Ps. i did add 10 mm ammo for him to use and that i can see in the inventory.

 

EDIT: I just tried to restart GECK to see what happends, it appears that the geck removes the weapon from his inventory even after saving, tried couple of times to test. Why is it doing that?

I'm guessing because the pulse rifle mod is a .esp file and you are trying to have the mod file with the custom NPC depend on it.

 

The GECK doesn't like have mods depend on .esp files, only .esm files.

 

Options that come to mind are to either make the pulse rifle mod an .esm file, or merge the custom NPC mod into the pulse rifle mod.

Hmm, yes but that changes the modfiles and since i am not the original author i'm guessing i can't release it afterwards?

A bit odd that i have to do that... Is there not another way to have him equip it without having to do this? Like with a script or something?

 

I don't mind that its not in his inventory i just want to make sure he equips it.

 

EDIT:

 

I used FOMM to change the ESP into ESM and now he indeed equips it. though my own character no longer has the gun since it was dependant on the esp.. But that's okay though, if i can run both together there is no conflict.
