Psijic Teleportation spells not giving experience or teleporting followers

I'm currently playing without fast travel and was hoping to use the psijic teleportation spells as a follower friendly replacement. Unfortunately, the spells are neither granting experience nor bringing my followers with me. I've tested both the expert level teleport spell and (using the console to add it) the master level omnipresence spell and neither is working properly. The lower level blink spell doesn't grant experience either, although that one isn't supposed to teleport followers, and I haven't bothered with the shadowstep spell since my character is a pure mage who basically never wants to close the distance with enemies. The experience I don't care so much about, it would be nice to fix but I've nearly maxed out my alteration level anyway, but I need a follower friendly fast travel system if I want to use followers on my playthrough and I was hoping to start using some of the famous follower mods like Inigo or Lucien. I've tried reinstalling the mod (didn't change anything) and checked in SSEEdit for conflicts (this is about the extent of my xEdit knowledge, but the only one it showed had to do with the maximum height of the world space over Falkreath, so I doubt that's the problem). Examining Teleport in SSEEdit showed that there is a teleport followers effect attached to the teleport spell effect, but for some reason its not working. In the posts section of the mod page the user who's taken over development says that he tried adding a spell to execute the follower teleport code for the sake of debugging and that seemed to fix it all on its own, but I know nothing about creating mods so I'm not sure how to do such a thing or if that would even work in my game. In any case, his posts about this were several months after the most recently uploaded version of the spells and he hasn't been active on Nexus since august of last year. Does anyone know how to fix this? I'll also accept an alternate solution if anybody has one, although getting these working as intended would be ideal. I can post my mod list if it helps, but given that there were essentially no conflicts I doubt that's important.
