Skyrim Creature Diversity

I'm working on mod which adds more variations of each race into Skyrim, with distinctive looks, different strengths and weaknesses.

There's already some different variants of races.

Most usual is the normal + frost variant of each race. (Wolf, bear, dragon, troll, etc.)

But I'm planning to do some more, and add a bit more challenge and much more creatures into Skyrim

I'm using Bellyache creature pack's textures, as those are best available textures for my purposes.

And I am trying to keep it so that I use vanilla races as much as I can, so it'd be as compatible as possible.

I am not gonna write down every creature I am planning to make, but I'll list some.

White skeever, slightly different texture from vanilla one. Some might recognize it as "Venomfang Skeever" (And that's what I used as base)

It's just much deadlier skeever in general. Can be found in places where you would normally find Skeevers.

Grey Skeever, carries every disease. (Though doesn't inflict them at same time. I'd say if it gets in melee with you, it's able to inflict 2-3 diseases to you, so be careful)

It's distinctive. As wounded as basic Skeevers, but not as dark.

Brown Skeever, just slightly better than vanilla skeevers. Looks healthier too.

Striped Sabre Cats, brown and white variant. Possibly some others too.

I haven't decided stats yet. Maybe slightly less HP than basic Sabre Cats have, but more damage?

Might change the color and stats wholly to something different. Can't decide it :ohdear:

Also, Mountain lion. Dawnguard gave me REALLY fitting base for that. (Not-so-furry sabrecat) Looks D*** nice with the lion texture from Bellyache pack.

Ancient Trolls and Swamp Trolls, I used Uderfrykte as a base for Ancient trolls. Again, I felt that this creature looks just too good to be abandoned/ to be used once in whole game, and some might not even ever stumble upon this creature. Ancient Trolls are much more challenging to kill than normal trolls. Greater HP regen, and great differences on resistances.

If I could do meshes myself, I would gladly spent most of my time on making troll variants.

Which makes me wonder, would anyone like to see "Troll" variants, aka. slightly shorter giants (frost and basic one) with different Skin/fur/hair color?

From what I know about other RPG's, there is some sort of Slim and really tall Troll race, but I can't remember what's it called.

I might add frost giants/similar giant with altered stats into Skyrim as well. (Also, brown version of frost giant.)

I think these hairy giants would be perfect on some "predator" leveled lists. (So they'd be a bit more uncommon, but you'd still encounter one every now and then)

Mm.. Just can't wait to get Dragonborn DLC. I just want to get my hands on Riekling, recolor them a bit, rename to Goblin and fill Skyrim with them.

Different spider species. Some not so frostbitten, some a bit more. Possibly armed with different sorts of poisons? I think a real paralyze poison would be nice.

I'm also thinking about changing the looks of certain creatures. (Named ones only)

Barbas is supposed to be Daedra's best friend, it could look just a bit different, same for couple other dogs around Skyrim. (Stump, Ysgramor, vigilance etc.)

Anyway, tell me your ideas.

Would you be interested in mod like this?

Also, yes, this was my third "project thread", I've decided to abandon the first two because of lack of any kind of support. (Also, I flost all progress of my first project during formatting, and It's annoying. It was pretty well made and thought, I would have released it soon ;_____; ) Just found the .esp! :ohdear:

Also, just noticed there's actually mod which does something similar. Maybe a bit more. ( a bit too much for my taste  ) Real Wildlife - Skyrim

It can't hurt to provide your own flavor of creatures, and I think it's a really good idea to add "sub-species" with different attributes as if they've adapted and evolved to better suit their native climates. As you say Real Wildlife does do something similar but too much for your taste, I'd say that would be grounds for making your own mod to fit your taste.

Aye!

Also, I read some of the comments, and it seems to have some problems.

The main difference probably is that I am just going to do the sub-species, and I am trying to keep my mod as compatible as possible

I just figured couple of things, how to handle the diseases without new races, how to reduce mod-size with texture sets ( instead of making new .nif for every creature)

Just started from a scratch because I had some dirty edits, doing progress in quite nice speed.

Also, thanks for message.

Shows that at least someone pays enough attention to say something!

As said, I'm glad to hear suggestions and ideas for stats.

And I'd love to see some free-to-use modders resources which suit my needs. (Lore friendly/not lore friendly but looks like it fits into skyrim)

I remember seeing some sort of orc/ogre resource long time ago, but I wasn't able to find it again. If someone could point that out, I'd be happy and give away precious kudos!
