Modifying Unit Costs: Recruitment, Wages, Upgrades

Besides the different troops types I feel like there could be interesting ways of giving flavour to the different factions by spicing up the Unit costs. This could enable some nations to be more elite focussed than others, differentiate conscription based militaries from volunteers in a tribal society to professional soldiers of the empire and so on.

 

As of know, the only thing that I assume to influence a units costs is a Unit's level (for Upgrades, the Level Difference between Units - upgrading e.g. a Harami to Aserai Faris has no costs because they are the same level). Has anybody figured out one of the following:

 

  1. If the Unit Level influences Costs, has someone already deduced a formula for it?
  2. What impact does changing a Unit's Level have (e.g. availability, spawn rate in settlements)?
  3. Is there a way to modify unit costs that I am unaware off?

 

I have seen mods that offer the ability to raise costs globally (I assume scripts) like e.g. Tyni's Fixes is doing. I also seem to remember a mod that did actually increase upgrade costs by taking into account the Unit's new equipment costs, but if that mod exists, I am unable to find it again. Any pointers?
