This is my rigs specs. (not including mouse/monitor etc.)

Asus Sabertooth X79 LGA 2011 Motherboard

Intel Core i7-3930K LGA 2011 3.2Ghz Six core CPU

Corsair H100 Water CPU cooler

64gig Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1866Mhz RAM

EVGA GeForce GTX 580 3gig Video card

Corsair Performance Pro 256gig SSD

I want to set it up for maximum performance, but not sure how. Here is also a copy of my Skyrim.ini and skyrimprefs.ini files.

Well, guess not. They wont let me upload them. But they were modified, using this site:

Here is a link to my troubleshooting blog.

This is updated often so come back later for more.

If you use any of this and have some success - or even if nothing works - please post back here what you did that worked or didn't work. That kind of information can be invaluable to other members having the same or similar problems - And to me in fixing any problems in the blog.

With those specs, you should be able to run Skyrim on ultra at 60+ fps easily... I guess I don't see the point of further tweaking for performance reasons? My rig puts Skyrim on ultra at 1080p at 60+ fps, and I only have a Phenom II and GTX 460. It drops if I add texture mods ofc, but I only have 768MB of VRAM.

If you're trying to improve visuals with minimal fps loss, however, try setting fTreesMidLODSwitchDist= to something between 10000 and 20000. I use 15000. It's located in the Skyrimprefs.ini, and it adjusts the range at which all the final details are added to trees. If you notice your trees seem to jerk a little as you get close to them, it's because this value isn't high enough. Note that it will NOT affect your ugrids, so past a certain distance all the trees will still go full LOD just like usual.
