New to modding, just need some tips

So I recently got Fallout 3 and New Vegas, got through the main plots and DLCs (don't feel like spending two weeks doing all the side stuff in FO3) and then got my hands on GECK. Anyway I figured I'd get my feet wet by making some of the weapons stupidly overpowered and decided I'd make the Gauss Rifle not only automatic, but also fire at the same rate as the Gatling Laser. Changing the numbers was simple enough, though once in-game my rate of fire was maybe 3-4 shots per second. My guess is that there is something like a "don't shoot again until the firing animation cycle is done" sort of thing going on with the Gauss. If this is the case, is there an easy way to get around it? If I'm totally wrong, let me know what's at work.

In Vegas (I don't remember if this works the same way in FO3), you need to check the 'automatic' flag, then use the Fire Rate field to increase/decrease.

Then under Art and Sound, select animation AttackLoop.

The only thing I was missing was setting the attack animation to "AttackLoop". The "Gatling Gauss" is now the stupidest, most over-powered thing in the game.

I suppose while I'm here, is there a way to fix the Stealth armor (from Old World Blues) so that my character moves faster and maybe jumps higher in it? If I'm going to be toting something insane like a Gatling Gauss around, I might as well be able to cover the long and boring distances faster.

If I hadn't JUST closed the GECK, I'd look. Armour bonuses are controlled by the Object Effects they're linked to, so if you can find an object effect that boosts your movement speed, probably. Jump height... I don't know, but I've never run across anything about jumping one way or the other. A search for Jump on the Geck Wiki doesn't bring anything helpful up.

You could always create a movement boosting perk and have the Stealth suit add/remove it, but that might be a shade beyond your skill level at the moment.
