First off my comp. hardware....

OS Name Microsoft® Windows Vista™ Home Premium

Version 6.0.6001 Service Pack 1 Build 6001

OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation

System Manufacturer Acer, inc.

System Model Aspire 4720Z

System Type X86-based PC

Processor Intel® Pentium® Dual CPU T2370 @ 1.73GHz, 1733 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s)

BIOS Version Acer v1.3808

SMBIOS Version 2.4

Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 2.00 GB

Total Physical Memory 1.99 GB

Available Physical Memory 813 MB

Total Virtual Memory 4.21 GB

Available Virtual Memory 2.39 GB

Page File Space 2.28 GB

:wallbash: The problem is that after I start up the game and I'm in the prison the game will play for about a minute or so and then my comp. freezes and shuts down Oblivion. I know the game requires atleast a 2.00 GHz processor but most games will just run slower if it doesn't meet the requirement instead of shutting down and freezing. So, I was wondering if it's the processor or the graphics card... What do you think? BTW! I'm running Windows Vista.

PLEASE!!! I need a solution ASAP!

I don't mean to get upset, but what does it take to get a DANG reply and a solution??? It's been 2 days and I expected to have at least one reply. 19 views and no replies is ridiculous.

Unfortunately, many of our helpful people have jumped onto Fallout.

Are you running any mods?

Are you running as an Administrator?

Have you upgraded Vista to SP1?

Have you upgraded your video/audio drivers?

You don't list your video card. There are some on laptops that need ungraded drivers to even look at Oblivion.

Quoted from the Oblivion Mods FAQ WIKI (relates to installing mods)

Using VISTA only: If you have downloaded and installed, and the mod is appearing in your Data Files List, but not in your game. Then you should reinstall Oblivion into a different directory instead of the default.

Installing mods on a Windows Vista system is bit trickier than it is on Windows XP due to Vista's increased security.

For best results, it is recommended to install Oblivion to a location other than the default C:\Program Files\ folder. Another location such as C:\Oblivion\ or D:\games\Oblivion\ will work better. This will avoid the file permission problems many users have experienced due to the increased security restrictions Vista places on the Program Files folder.

Wiki entry on installing Oblivion in Vista: http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Windows_Vista

If you can't, or just don't want to reinstall Oblivion, try this.

Vista users may have to disable a security function known as UAC. If you have downloaded and installed, and the mod is appearing in your Data Files List, but not in your game check to see if UAC is turned on. If so. Look here for instructions on how to turn it off. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vis...-windows-vista/

I will be out of town for a few days. Probably back Saturday, so hang in there, we will get you going.

No I'm not running any mods.

I'm the main profile on my comp. so I guess I'm running as admin..

No I have not upgraded Vista to SP1.

No I haven't upgraded any drivers in my comp. or anything else. My comp. is 100% factory.

I don't even own Oblivion any more. After I bought the game and installed it and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work I returned it to the store. I love tesnexus.com and all the awesome content that is available for download, that I want to get the game and get it to work. That's why I'm posting in the forums to find a way for it to work.

BTW. My video card is a 358MB Mobile Intel Graphic Media Accelerator X3100.
