wulvfen
Hello all,1st off, here's hoping this isn't a redundant post/question that's already been answered somewhere.2nd, here's hoping someone can help me, a n00b, figure out what general order I should install FNV mods in.I've seen/found lots of info on LOAD orders, but despite my efforts, I can't find anything on the best INSTALLATION order by types. By this I mean do I install; Weather, Items, Buildings, Quests, Companions, Overhauls, Cosmetics, Races, others or; Buildings, Companions, items, Weather, Cosmetics, Races, Overhauls, Quests, others or; Cosmetics, Overhauls, Races, etc., etc. I'd like to find out the best way to install by mod TYPES for optimization of overwrites, reducing possible install conflicts, etc.. I'm not a total n00b about modding, been learning to use FOMM, FNVEdit, etc. for a while now, but I think [for me, at least] such info would be incredibly helpful for making the best install possible and reducing the necessary edits, alters, patching/merges, etc., required to setup my game for smooth operation. Could someone clue me in, or direct me to the appropriate page/site. I'm sure someone, somewhere, has already answered this question but I don't see it. Oh Yeah! Is there a page or site that lists mods by type? As an example, I know Nevada Skies is a weather mod, but if I didn't know, would I be able to find it listed as such, alongside other weather mods? Maybe including other lists for clothing mods, or building mods and such? EDIT; [doh...nuts...yum,donuts] Hoo boy, did I ever word my query about a mod listing page wrong. I know the Nexus sites have mods tagged in the "Files/Categories" page w/ all the pertinent info for a mod on the OP of that mod, however; 1) What I meant was, is there a page/site that compiles all this info onto 1 page/site, so I wouldn't have to go to each individual OP to find out about the mods in question. Example; [Weather Mods] Nevada Skies, Project Reality, Fellout, etc., all together on 1 list, with information on size, content, author, rating, comments, and so forth to provide an "All-in-One" spot for immediate info and comparison. 2) Still a n00b with using forums, should I have posted this under 'Technical Support' instead of here at 'Mod Talk'? I most certainly do use the Nexus categories pages to find out about mods I might use, I'm just trying to make it easier on myself when it comes to searching. Thanks Want to stay young? wulvfen
More than 2 weeks and nothing to say? Pfffff....disappointing Edited January 14, 2013 by wulvfen
Xaranth
The only time install order matters is when you have two mods that modify the same game resource, in which case you can't use them together anyway. So, for the most part; Install order doesn't matter at all. You can look at the files by categories, or search by tags to sort by types.
wulvfen
Thank you Xaranth.I've been prepping for a re-install as I had a major computer system crash [unrelated to the game, damn Windows OS] while playing and it totally screwed my game files to **** [took me 3 days to get my comp. up and running again].As stated, I kind of know what I'm doing [technically still a n00b] and was wondering if installation order would make any notable difference in modding the game. If, as you say, it doesn't matter too much about the actual install order itself, then I can just concentrate on which mods I want to overwrite other mods.Ahh...yes, now to really learn FNVEdit and the GECK, so my game is running with what I want and minimal crashes [hopefully none], but it's a learning curve for me. My last modded FNV game had issues with some things [mostly custom companion mods and dialogue choices] but was running O.K. before my system crash, so here's hoping for better this time.BTW, had your DARC-PH installed but never made it that far before the crash. Like the mod and the location is prime for a base in the N. Mojave, so it's a definite install for me to have in-game.Thanks again Want to stay young?
