Problem using 2 mods with defaultsetstage scripts?

I'm just curious. I have 2 mods that use courier quest starters, and both use the defaultsetstageonplayeracquire and defaultquest...forgot the name right now, but sets the quest stage when you read the letter. The older quest used to work fine, but once I created another mod that uses the same defaultsetstage scripts, the older quest stopped working. I GET both letters from the courier. Reading the newest quest letter fires off that quest, reading the letter for the older quest does nothing.

 

I tried rebuilding the "older" quest from scratch, using all new aliases, new trigger boxes, new letter, but nothing works. Killing the "boss" at the end is the only part of the quest that works properly.

 

So I ask you, can't I use these default scripts more than once?

Forget I asked. It seemed like that might have been the problem, but looks like it was something else. I tried making the same quest, using the exact same set of aliases, about 5 or 6 times KNOWING full well that I was doing everything according the way it was supposed to be, and finally the quest worked. Why? I don't know. Maddening. In the end, it seemed that the CK didn't want to let me add aliases for getting the player items, including gold, but when I rearranged the order in which I typed in the aliases...it worked.
