Mogymog
Ok I looked a little and saw nothing like this, so here goes. You notice how messed up the timing is for getting companions is based on karma? I mean, excluding Dogmeat, Charon, and any others not needing karma, which is rare.. And after leaving Vault 101 Good Karma-> Fawkes, that BOS Chick.. you cant get either till like 90% of the game is done, and by then, who cares Neutral-> RL-3, Butch.. about 20% into the game for the bot.. almost 90% through for Butch Evil-> Jericho, Clover... Jericho like 2% into the game, you just WALK to megaton and there ya go, its not hard to have 1000caps that early.. I mean, what the hell where beth thinking. If anything, they should have have a Charon like companion in megaton so no matter your karma you could have someone. And since it's pretty much prove that Beth wants us all to play nice guys, and love and care for the wasteland.. (IE: Lvl 21+ evil game crashing bug). then why didnt they let good people get a companion char so early in the game to help out.. Makes no sense! Lets hope with the GECK this can be changed. Be nice to get a good karma char, or one that doesn't care about karma so early in the game. And yeah there's a mod out now that lets you get any of them regardless of karma, that's not the point! druggieuzer
i find it extremely difficult to maintain a good character. or even nuetral.
Mogymog
Thats funny.. how so? I've tried all 3, and it was hard as hell to stay neutral or evil.. Since just about everything you do gives you good karma.
druggieuzer
i like stealing things, im very materialistic in games. earlier today i killed the sheriff in his sleep becaus he had a chinese assault rifle and i needed 20 of them. i also killed a super mutant hostage because i wanted her outfit. i guess being good or trying to be isnt as rewarding to me as being mean as hell. Mogymog
True, but since half the quests you do give good karma.. and like 1000 points of it.. so you have to do hundred evil things again, makes it hard.
Werewolf334
The reason why they have Jericho as a bad karma companion in megaton is because if your an evil character you will be tempted to blow up megaton. From the start it is relatively hard to get the karma needed to hire him unless you right away go scrounging and steal everything in megaton. Jericho is probably the best evil companion you can have, without mods. Clover is an ugly companion, and you also have to provide her a weapon from "buying her." Granted, there are mods out there to fix her appearance.
Uzibeatle
Yah, I think most of us have trouble just trying to maintain neutral due to the game mechanics and quest rewards. So tuning is useful. I just use console trick to skim my karma down as I dont' want to go around being a totally evilarse with my characters. One of em is a cannibal who does not lose much karma per munch session. It hardly matters. I saw a couple people try to address this with some karma tweak mods so there may be hope . In the meantime I'm forced to cheat a little if I want to grab Clover, etc ...who as an aside I dont' find ugly. Go figure. Course I doll her up with a pre war bonnet, remove the slave collar and recently she got a hairdo thanks to some modder with leet skills. Jerhico I keep killing on occasion as I find that ass highly annoying. Course I have to resume from a save game afterMegaton goes beserk. One of these days I may assassinate him or better yet, figure out a way to enslave him and drag his bitchy no good ass to Paradise Falls.
SangRahl
I'm also a hardcore 'Evil' character... and completed nearly* every quest, so far, in purely 'good' methods. But, having sticky fingers and 100% Lockpick/Science skills means that Three-Dog gets to keep contradicting himself when talking about me. "He's the devil himself... Way to go, kid." I mean, huh? *The ONLY true evil quest I've done is blowing up Megaton, just because I know any subsequent playthroughs will have Megaton left intact... but I was already Lvl.20 and Scourge of Humanity, by then. (Waited until I'd completed Moira's little book, first.)
Werewolf334
You can complete moira's quest in the museum at the ghoul city. (she turns into a ghoul after blowing up megaton), you know :D I have also heard some funny remarks from Three-Dog that kindof contradicts the type of character your playing.
