TheOverWhelming
So it has come to a point where I am asking the forums about this issue.I seem to be consistently getting hardcore spiking on Skyrim. I'm not sure why. An example is in the beginning (just start new game), the game likes to stay at 30-40 fps except every few seconds or when I look anywhere. This is very annoying since it seems to happen on all the settings. This keeps happening even on the lowest settings, low textures, not reflect sky, etc. Skyrim's auto graphic setting sets for High or Very High too I'm doing a clean install right now to test it again and I have tried restarting. Here's my system's specs according to dxdiag (removing useless things) ------------------System Information------------------Time of this report: 12/31/2012, 02:22:51 Machine name: ETHAN_ZONE Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.120830-0333) Language: English (Regional Setting: English)System Manufacturer: To be filled by O.E.M. I do OC my processor and graphics card. I get high FPS in several games so it isn't hardware based. My harddrive originated from a laptop so its read/write speed is pretty shitty. altho it should only read the drive a few times before it is transferred to RAM any help would be appreciated! edit: also got newest drivers edit2: [On ultra settings] Did a fresh install, still laggy during the cart but it steadied when entered the town edit3: I disabled mouse accel and such, still at 35 fps in town. Gonna try lowest settings edit4: Lowest settings with HDTextures disabled, 35-40 fps.. i'd think it'd be a much bigger difference Edited December 31, 2012 by TheOverWhelming
steve40
Skyrim tends to lag when loading new cells or when new Story Manager events/Quests begin. Try: - disable virus scanner completely- disable overclocking- if your Papyrus log is enabled, disable script logging.- if using non-default Papyrus settings in Skyrim.ini try setting them back to default- if using default Papyrus settings in Skyrim.ini, try adding: [Papyrus]fUpdateBudgetMS=800fExtraTaskletBudgetMS=800fPostLoadUpdateTimeMS=2000iMinMemoryPageSize=256iMaxMemoryPageSize=512iMaxAllocatedMemoryBytes=2457600
