EvilPhoenix
Lets start then.I am thinking of playing Fallout 3 again.Fallout 3 was my first Fallout game, and it is the only game of its kind.I stopped playing shortly after completed 1 or 2 DLC,few sidemissions and few main missions.Problem was simple.Lazy developers with hands growing from ass.Sorry for rude word.I did not wanted to say lazy.Okay, without jokes.I completed Fallout New Vegas with all DLC,main missions and few side missions.Same problem.Perfomance/CTD.When i played Fallout 3 i did not knew how to use BOSS,FO3/FNVEDIT (merged patches).Simply,i did not knew how to use many tools that can increase perfomance and fix some CTD problems. In Fallout NV i was more experienced and learned how to use some. My questions for experienced FO3 players. If you played both, then it is even better. 1) Does Fallout 3 have less CTD and Perfomance problems (laggs, freezes) ? As i remember there was less laggs.Maybe someone completed it without CTD ? Or at least with only 1-3 CTD.In New Vegas i had CTD too often.Freezes after 1-3 hours.Serious random laggs.2) How to improve perfomance and fix CTD.I do not need huge tutorial.Just important information of what i need to know/do to.3) Is there any mods that will add companion wheel like in NV,weapon crafting and H2O/Food/Sleep and music? Sadly Fallout New Vegas is last Fallout game at the moment, and developers will not start working on another part before they will release all Skyrim DLC.There is no other choice than playing Fallout 3.Biggest problem was CTD.Maybe it is a tradition or part of gameplay. You know, like people will spend more hours with Fallout ,since they will have to run game again.Hopefully Dragonborn will be last DLC,so devs will start working on Fallout 4. I downloaded latest Catalyst drivers, have latest DirectX drivers, increased Page file size, cleaned everything (Defrag, registry, temporary folders etc). Makski
Go to this video: Watch it trough once, then follow what he suggests for basic setup of your laptop. I would've suggested Fallout Remastered as required for a vanilla game, but I guess too many people whined about it not 'helping' their heavily modded games & the authors pulled it. It was the best at smoothing out the CTD & other isssues. Once you're comfortable with what Gopher has shown you, look for & install this http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/10318. It also helps with lag, ctd, stutter. You might consider 'upgrading' to Win7. Vista is a resource hog. Win7 home is 'fairly' inexpensive & stable. Other than that, trying to play this resource intensive game on a laptop might not be wise. Upgrade to a dedicated 'desktop' rig. I'm using an HP Pavilion p6703w with a 1 gig ATI 4650 gpu & 12 gigs ram. Whole outfit cost me less than 600 USD after the 'upgrades' I did to it. (graphics card & ram) Hope this helps.... EvilPhoenix
Watch it trough once, then follow what he suggests for basic setup of your laptop. You kidding or tried to insult me ? I have spent 40 minutes for nothing.Bad way of advertising, lad. I would've suggested Fallout Remastered as required for a vanilla game, but I guess too many people whined about it not 'helping' their heavily modded games & the authors pulled it. It was the best at smoothing out the CTD & other isssues. Thanks, but if it is not available, then no reason to mention it. Once you're comfortable with what Gopher has shown you, look for & install this http://fallout3.nexu...com/mods/10318. It also helps with lag, ctd, stutter. Install what ? :psyduck:  You might consider 'upgrading' to Win7. Vista is a resource hog. Win7 home is 'fairly' inexpensive & stable. Thanks again, but no offtopic anymore. Other than that, trying to play this resource intensive game on a laptop might not be wise. Upgrade to a dedicated 'desktop' rig. Why I myself did not thought about it  I'm using an HP Pavilion p6703w with a 1 gig ATI 4650 gpu & 12 gigs ram. Whole outfit cost me less than 600 USD after the 'upgrades' I did to it. (graphics card & ram) Well done  ,but again not related to my questions. :excl: :ermm: Hope this helps.... To be honest,no.I appreciate some people desire to help, but from anything you said, nothing helped as you can see.

If the "Remastered patch" mentioned by Makski can be found I recommend using it in conjunction with Blackened. Maybe I can email it to you if it's not too large (it's at home and I'm at work now so can't check the file size at this moment). 3) Fallout Wanderer's Edition adds a Companion "auto-menu" which is similar in function to the Companion Wheel. You can hotkey it to one of the the number keys and use it anytime so no longer a need to walk up to the companion to tell them something unless you want to: if the companion is within earshot they will follow the command. Fallout Wanderer's Edition also adds more crafting options and 'New Vegas style hardcore-mode' which is called "Primary Needs" in FWE. It really improves the gameplay from an 'options and challenge' perspective. I use above in conjunction with RH_Ironsights, which obviously adds iron sights to almost all the weapons, Dynamic Weather which adds just that as well well as darkening the nights a wee bit, and Mart's Mutant Mod which adds 'believable variety' to the creatures of Fallout 3. You may also be interested in DC Interiors which 'opens up' some of the abandoned houses and buildings throughout the wasteland for exploration. Everything I've mentioned I acquired at Fallout Nexus. Thank You.Luckily, this time i had no CTD yet.Strange that laggs only in buldings. In wasteland there is no laggs.I will try to play without patch for now.Maybe later will download it.
