READ BEFORE POLLING!!

THIS IS PRE MODS, and IF THE GRAPHICS WERE THE SAME, COMPARE THE GAME CONTENT.

IF YOU NEVER PLAYED MORROWIND GO TO http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Morrowind AND READ A LITTLE FIRST!!

IF YOU NEVER PLAYED OBLIVION GO TO http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Oblivion AND READ A LITTLE FIRST

Ok so I figured I would make this a poll...some people feel very protective of their precious Oblivion....

Morrowind has better lore, quests, landscapes, skills (medium and unarmored skills, alchemy, personal taste security, weapon types! throwing, spears, type of attacks you can preform and how they match up with your choice of weapon ex some have better thrust type of attack then others.

negatives would be hmm lack of a mini game on lock picking, speech craft ehh, some people didnt like the combat cause you had to be on top of them, charges regenerated and made them rather powerful But things had limits on them as to how powerful they could be enchanted...

Oblivion...

Pros they did some good work with sneak, the combat is pretty good, good animations too most people will come up for there own reasons why they like the game and this is under Oblivion catagory so I figure they already like the game

some of the cons..

you have to be in mages guild to enchant your own stuff...thats lame. Oblivion monsters to quote form SickleYield who brought up a good point on creatures, Oblivion's are either borrowed from Western folklore that's already overused in fantasy gaming

Have you ever noticed the backdoor? I mean honestly...it seems they made this game for add kids cause of the overuse of the back door. dont want to go through the entire place well here ya go right next to the boss is a lil door to exit the place...I mean honestly its nice every once and a while but good grief.

Lockpicking mini game is so damn easy its not even funny...nuff said

and I think heatherceana said it best "The Physics system in Oblivion is ludicrous!"

and anyone actually watch the intro to Oblivion? the solider walking on top of the wall is WAY out of proportion omg he must be a GIANT!!

It all depends on what kind of game play people like and personal taste on various things. Comparing two games like this exactly the same as debates about religion, it's about the personal beliefs and opinions of each individual and trying to say game X is better than game Y is pointless exactly due to this, you also have to accept the fact that there are no "what if"s with Morrowind running on the same graphics as Oblivion simply due to the fact that it never will and that alone makes the comparison useless. I could understand this if you had said without taking any note of animations/graphics, which leaves out all the complaints about what weapons you can use etc.

Basically all you can really compare between two games is the quality of the quests and how well the storylines have been built as there will always be progress/changes on all other areas of the game that some people will like and some people will hate.Once you accept the fact that not everyone will ever agree with you, you can have a constructive debate on where you think the publisher of the game, Bethesda in this case, went wrong with Oblivion in your opinion and the other side can then comment on what Oblivion had that Morrowind lacked apart from the more advanced graphics.

Just to make my point clear; All you can really discuss about the games is the "meat" of it, not the graphics, cool items or more weapon types the other one offers. Once you accept the fact that there will be lots of people disagreeing with you on pretty much everything you say, you can have an actual debate/discussion, which on the other hand does not belong in this section of the forums at all. You also should NOT under ANY circumstances start provoking others into flame wars/bitching contests about what game is better as that is something which will also break the rules. You can state your opinion on things as long as you understand that not everyone will agree with you and that you can keep things civil without excessive swearing/dissing of something(On both sides.).

ref wasder doesnt that make it the perfect place to ask the question? cause people Love Oblivion here...It wouldnt give me an idea of what ppl think of Oblivion if I asked it in Morrowind area would it?

ref Sarya and tyreil829 I just played morrowind, a little late I know, I missed the boat there but Im playn it and sayn to myself I wish Oblivion was more like this game and I was wondering if anyone els felt the same way...

As far as game being just taste difference I can and cant agrea with you. There is more detail put in the game in Morrowind. Ex. Alchemy, sometimes you just wont make a potion, in oblivion its cut and dry always make the potion. There are more variables in morrowind. Taste or lack of effort.

Light, med, heavy, unarmored skills...its detail, its more depth to the game oblivion cuts it.

Yes Oblivion adds the lockpicking game, Good feature but honestly its way to damn easy. Its a good thing they wanted to do more, but oi its lame sorry.

And I do like the persuasion mini game, I just dont care to use it, personal preference BUT its a feature that adds depth.

Or like how in Morrowind if you join a faction another faction might not like you. People may or may not like it But it is a feature put in the game that adds depth

I find that the gameplay is generally better in Oblivion. Sure, the lockpicking game is easy, but it's more fun then just hitting the door with a lockpick. Being able to cast spells while holding a weapon is a very good plus. Having magicka regenerate is the one thing that makes playing a mage fun. I didn't like having to rest all the time or take an insane amount of potions in Morrowind.

However, I find the setting in Morrowind better. The culture feels more unique, more original.

Overall, both are great games that I've spent hours on. I hope TES V takes advantage of both, by creating an interesting culture and improving Oblivion's gameplay even more.

I played both and Oblivion takes the Cake. Morrowind had better Music, in some cases better Storytelling and more unique Dungeons. Well, to an extent, the Dungeons where brown. Or grey.

In Oblivion, the Cave Tileset, the only Caveset available, you can see at least some Cavelike Structure, at least when the Designers did it right. In most cases they did not and we have giant Underground Rooms which would collapse.

But some caves look like Caves. In Morrowind, they look like... brown.

The Combat System in Morrowind has great potential... to be replaced by something better.

Lockpicking by thrusting the Lockpick onto the Lock like a Sword? Oh come on.
