CTD in unmodified skyrim

I just got back into Skyrim (literally), so I installed skyrim again through steam, and added my few favorite mods. Skyrim redone, immersive armor and weapons, and some mods that affect the environment. A whopping total of 21 mods that I know work in tandem just fine together as I had previously raked in 400 hours with them without issue. I am by no means new to modding, or its inner workings..

Anyways what was happening was I would start a new game, go through the boring and far too long intro only to have the game crash almost every single time just after Alduin burns Tolfdor alive. I went through the process of selectively turning off each and every mod one by one to check, and the weird thing was it would seem that my save becomes corrupt almost immediately. As in, I turn off one mod or change one aspect of my load order and the save can never be loaded again without crashing.

My suspicion was that somewhere in my data files were mods that were active but not showing up in the load order (which has happened to me before with fallout NV), this did not seem to be the case. So as I said above I am quite certain it isn't any of my mods as I have used this exact load order of mods for over 300 hours without issue. And to make matters more complicated when I turn off all mods and uninstall them, then uninstall the game and reinstall it, then start a new game with ZERO mods, the game still crashes in the same place.

I cleaned my registry, I checked my antivirus/firewall, I used TES5EDIT to look for any conflicts or problems, I turned off any programs that could have been conflicting with my video drivers, I painstakingly uninstalled my video drivers and cleaned them out of my registry before installing an older version, then I did the same to those drivers and reinstalled the latest again.

I have spent the entire day running a disk cleaner which is wiping out all the free space on my disk drive to ensure that there are no previous versions of skyrim conflicting. I have had that problem before and this was the solution. But if this doesn't work then I am completely stumped...

I cannot post my load order as I uninstalled the game so that the cleaning software and clean up the location where it was.

But as I said, I have been doing this a while and I can assure you this isn't a mod conflict. I am even more certain that isn't based on the fact that the game still crashed even when all other mods were turned off, uninstalled, and the game itself was on a fresh install.

So, anyone got any ideas?

Make sure your game is fully up to date to 1.8 before adding any mods.

Many people suggest only adding mods after you leave Helgen after starting a new game.

The not adding mods until after the opening sequence is what worked. :/

Didn't ever think of that. I have never needed to do that up until this new patch. Whatever, thanks though!
