Gaz1
I'm current building a heavy weapon that is used for medium to long range support. So far it can lob a non-explosive slug a long distance, and if it hits, it hurts a lot. The 'flavour' that I've got right now The SecWep SC-231 'Siege Cannon' is a medium to long range infantry heavy support weapon that uses a new revolutionary hybrid pneumatic/kintetic delivery system. The SC-231 fires a high density non-explosive AP slug at targets. Please note that this projectile is not self-propelled. Under test conditions, the slug should disintegrate within milliseconds of penetrating anything harder than combat armour. Initial field tests show clean wounds on targets, despite the size of the slugs. One disadvantage to the SC-231 is that in compression of the conveyance technology to man-portable size, the slug has significantly lower kinetic energy than from the field artillery version. As a result, even at the speeds the slug is fired at, it is quite adversely affected by gravity at ranges of 300ft or more. In some cases, it has been noted that upon hitting the target, the slug or the target explodes into flame , theorised to be the frictional energy being transferred from slug to target. Please note that this effect is also detrimental to the firer. Observation suggests that hitting a weapon wielded by a target will render that weapon completely unusable. Unfortunately in this case the target will usually survive the shot. In joint tests with Vault-Tec, when utilising the VATS, it is unfortunate to note that the effective range of fire is drastically reduced if the target is in motion. The launcher itself was made with a modified Army Flamethrower chassis, and is modular to the point that maintenance can be performed on the unit with other flamethrower unit parts. This also should reduce manufacturing costs when the weapon is ready for production. The launcher also functions almost to spec when loaded with Army-issue HEAT and AP missiles. The launcher does not arm these projectiles, but the damage caused by them are well within specifications. Field tests of the SecWep SC-231 'Siege Cannon' continue. SpecsName: SecWep SC-231 "Siege Cannon"Skill: Big GunsDamage: Normal, BallisticEffective range: 1000ftBase Damage: 450Crit: +25%, +450 base dmg, flaming explosionRepairs With: FlamerBase cost(per unit): 9000Rate of Fire: 1 per 2secAmmo: Missiles Short Term R&D Goals:Implement an effective 'burst' (3 rounds) firing mode.Redevelop rounds to penetrate 'fleshy' targets. As it says in the R&D goals, is there a way to implement a single-click 3 round burst? Any suggestions or comments welcome.
Skree000
Im wondering how you are going to implement a projectile that fires in an arc instead of a straight line like conventional firearms in the game... perhaps you can somehow use the mechanism of grenade lobbing (in an arc also)
Gaz1
Everything in the flavour has been implemented to a degree in-game. It's just the 'R&D Goals' that I need help with. The gun so far just lobs a missile at silly speeds out, and the model will start arcing, even though it doesn't have a weight.
ManIndaHat
it could definately work, and i like the idea fo the autocannon...but are you thinking the SM version or the IG version. Because the IG version looks alot different. Where the SM looks like a chaingun the IG just looks like a bigass LMG fed from the top.
Gaz1
It would be similar to the SM autocannon. Okay, I think I've got a 'burst fire' thing going. It shoots at about 20 rounds per second, but it only has a magazine size of 2. Then I speed up the reload a little (the flamer reload doesn't really take that long anyway. so holding the trigger down for a second will fire both shells rapidly. I guess you could call this a man-portable Ultra-AC2.
Doedel
That "chaingun" is an Assault Cannon, not an Autocannon. They're two different weapons; the Assault Cannon is S6 and fires 4 shots, the Autocannon is S7 and fires 2 shots. Just thought I'd point that out. :) Also Loyal Marines don't really use infantry-carried Autocannons; the only time you see them is on Dreadnoughts and Predator tanks... Chaos Marines on the other hand do, and also have the Reaper Autocannon variant (which is like a normal autocannon except twin-linked) <_<
lonezergling
Right. The assault cannon is the .75cal (?) 6-barrel gatling gun mounted on dreads and some vehicles. There's a 3-barrel version for Terminators IIRC. Autocannons are just like big, slow machine guns. Large caliber rounds fired only a couple times a second or slower. Yes, almost exactly like an Ultra A/C2 and that's because A/C stands for autocannon...
