Voodo1314
The Idea So during my time in Skyrim, I have noticed that there are only children, adults and elders. However, there is nothing between child and adult thus creating a massive age shift. Therefore teenagers need to be made! The Old Plan My original plan was to scale down the male and female bodies when creating new actors but I soon realised major flaws. Firstly, not all teenagers are going to be as stocky as an adult. Secondly, male teenagers are not likely to be completely covered in body hair. And finally, not all female teenagers are going to be developed, some may not even have breasts yet. Also teenagers will have slightly fresher looking skin. The New Plan So, the current plan is for new meshes to solve the teen development problem and textures to solve the hair and younger looking skin problem. Unfortunately, I am not sure whether this will effect hair and face gen data :/ Therefore..................... ...What I Need What I need is someone with knowledge in the area of textures and meshes. I have little knowledge in textures and none at all in meshes.Even if you cannot help me personally, do you know anyone who can? FiftyTifty
Damn near impossible. You'd need a custom race with custom meshes with custom textures and custom animations, with all sorts of painful-to-add dialogue, factions, etc. Not worth the pain. The CK is piss for anything other than doing stuff like adding dungeons/NPCs, or small-time scripts.
SkoomaBoy
Scale a child up, or an adult down, mess with the weight properties, change the textures and you've got your teenager. This is far from being impossible. Edited January 3, 2013 by SkoomaBoy
Voodo1314
Here's what I was planning: -Factions: Add them to family and city factions just like children are in game.-Dialogue: I know a few voice actors who know voice actors (surely one of them can do a teenage sounding voice!).-Animation: Stick with adult animation.-Meshes/textures: That is where I am unsure and where I need someone who knows this stuff. I was thinking that the vanilla bodies could be used with changes? I do not know :/ I was planning for the teen race to be completely customisable and playable, just like the adult races. The CK is piss for anything other than doing stuff like adding dungeons/NPCs, or small-time scripts. First time I want to say this in eternity:LOL all custom child races are currently based on rescaled adult skeleton/edited body, it's not impossible to scale it a bit up, edit the faces to more teen-like and so on.Custom animation? where did you get idea for that? Childs use same animation as adults. Rescaled kid/adult still uses the same animations.painful-to-add dialogue?..Then "Interesting NPC's" must have been real pain to do. Almost hundread NPC's with unique dialog and greetings. (couple of thousands lines of dialog? fully voiced too.)I'm not sure if you thought you know something about this, or just wanted to troll. But anyway, pretty lame trolling.. @Skoomaboy Exactly.Khajiit children and argonian child mods are based on rescaled adult, as it seems that the kid body is somewhat pain to modify. (But to be honest, adult skeleton with slight changes is closer to teen than the vanilla kid is. It's a bit closer to Dwarf than teenager.) And also, if adult body is used as base, it's possible to make them wear casual outfits. @ Voodo1314Aye, slight changes to vanilla bodies, as the anatomic difference between teenager and adult is not too different. (Child has "bigger" head than adult, with teens there's no noticeable difference.)Also, depends on what you mean by "teen", can you clarify the age you're going for? 15-20? I hope you're able to make this, as it sounds like really great idea!

Voodo1314
For the age I was thinking around mid-teens so around 15. Therefore they can be old enough to go and fight but still hold onto their youth. @Jodi79: The mod is along the lines of what I have planned, but I aim to take lore-friendly and realistic view. So integrate teens into current families etc. Also does anyone know anybody who can edit the meshes? Edited January 3, 2013 by Voodo1314
ripple
Just scaling the mesh and giving them different textures from adults will be the easiest method but they'll likely look rather funny in game (but then, most teenagers are suppose to look awkward during that phase anyway...). You'll need outfits that 'fit.' (Ignoring the fact that this will open a floodgate for skimpy 'teen' clothing and armour and 'kawaii!!!' anime outfits.....*sighs*) I think about 6 outfits will be enough to give 'variety' to their daily wear (I think that's about the number of outfits the kids have). If you want them 'playable' and be able to wear all the amour and clothing adults can wear in game, then conversions for each armour/cloth will need to be made. -Dialogue: I know a few voice actors who know voice actors (surely one of them can do a teenage sounding voice!). It's not difficult to assign the young adult NPCs voices if you just want them to deliver generic one liners like most of the kids in the game. If you want them to have 'deep dialogue' with the player, then yeah, you would either 1) need voice actors or 2) recycle 'young sounding' adult voice/lip sync files from the default game. The other thing you'll need to do is to actually place young adult NPCs into the game, assign them AI packages, create templates and add them to leveled lists if you want some to spawn as Forsworn, that sort of thing. As I said earlier, the problem is that there will be stocky teens and fully developed females. There needs to be some little changes to the mesh. Hence why I need someone to do it. If you want them 'playable' and be able to wear all the amour and clothing adults can wear in game, then conversions for each armour/cloth will need to be made. This was the plan. That is what I am going to do. Fully integrate them into the world so it seems as if they were there from the start. So like in the game, some will just have one line to say as you walk passed/interact (most likely using vanilla clips (with a little voice-acting)) and others will have full conversations and give quests (obviously needing voice acting). Yes, but you'll need to base the young adult mesh on adult meshes as templates, and 'scale' them before editing the 'anatomical proportions' accordingly, as Shadowjin said, rather than start from scratch. So yes, you'll need mesh editing. The important part of this is that you need to get them to interact not just with the environment (which the AI packages can easily handle), but with the vanilla NPCs so they blend seamlessly into the population (rather than just stand out as odd random NPCs with names). If the author of 'Interesting NPCs' gets on board, I can see this part of the project done properly. He's obviously poured through the vanilla dialogue lines and voice files and has had great success in combining recycled vanilla voice files with custom voice acting to get his mod NPCs to have conversation 'banters' with the vanilla NPCs and each other.
