deanvmc
Hi All, I am a software developer who has never done any modding before but thought I would give it a bash. I have a series of modular mod's I would like to make, mostly for my own purposes, that make skyrim a much harsher place to be. Some of these modules will require perk trees to be rewritten and values of items to be changed. Before I go about doing this I was hoping to find out if it is ok to modify existing items / content in the CK. For instance, I am planning on making skyrim a poorer place due to the war and as such a lot of items values will be adjusted down. I also want to make some changes to existing perks so that they offer a lot more passive bonuses but underpower the perks more. I understand that these sort of changes can effect other mods but for the moment I am happy not to use other mods while I experiment with this. Is it ok in this instance to change existing items? Thanks in advance.
Bjornheim
As it's a rpg, a single player game, you are allowed to do whatever you want with your mod and add it to your game, you are allowed share it too. So yeah, you are allowed to modify items and content as you wish, after all, it is YOUR skyrim, not anyone else(s) Edited January 3, 2013 by Bjornheim

ripple
I was thinking more along the lines of unintended consequences however, most likely in relation to perks and npc's, do they use the same perks as I? NPCs cannot learn perks like the player, some default game NPCs have been assigned perks. There are mods that assign perks to follower NPCs to make them more effective in combat (since they won't learn perks when they level with the player). ASIS can be configured to assign perks to random spawn NPCs (bandits, warlocks, etc), but I've never used it, so I can't give much detail about it. With regards to 'unintended consequences', it all depends on what you want to do. Edited January 3, 2013 by ripple
