concepts2a
My system is notorious for not liking .bsa files. The originals for Skyrim are okay, but anything else... forget it. So, that was the only way I could get the Hi-res texture pack for Skyrim to work when Bethesda released it. Since then I have been unpacking all mods containing .bsa's and running them directly in my Data Folder; works like a charm. I find I am now having all the same issues with the Dawnguard DLC. What I was wanting to know is if anyone else has the same difficulties with .bsa's as I do ? If so, has anyone tried unpacking the .bsa for Dawnguard and entering it directly into the Data folder. Not sure if this can be done, as the Dawnguard.bsa would then have to be removed, and each update Steam does will reenter it. Royal pain. Will wait for any response. greentea101
You would not have to remove dawnguard.bsa after unpacking it. The game would simply ignore it, and use the loose files instead. Try and see what happens, it should work as far as I know.

concepts2a
Did the unpack, placed all in appropriate folders in Data. Ran game, still will CTD upon entering Dawnguard Fortress....no difference what-so-ever. Back to the drawing board.
