Infinite chip glitch

T0M7

Recommended Posts

Usually I never did this kind of seeking help, but seeing this could possibly hinder my gameplay, I just can't.

There's a glitch that could gain a lot of caps with dropping casino chips, I usually do it for testing other mods.

But then, when I tried to do it, it just can't. Followed it thorough (gain ~33k caps, exchange it for chips, and dropping it and picking it up) and just can't exchange those chips.

Any idea how to "revert" it?

In view of your other post regarding "xNVSE", my first thought is this "glitch" got fixed (or more probably "re-broken") by it. The nature of the "glitch" may now be generating "chips" that are not identical to the originals (different "base/ref-ID") and so not recognized by the cashier scripts. But that is just supposition. Regardless, you need to look for something which is different from previously when it worked, which is why I suspect "xNVSE".

Nope, I suspect another mod "bypass" the glitch because this problem happened before I updated the NVSE (using 5.1b4). Just can't pinpoint the mod which caused it.

When trying to do the glitch, I got all the way to getting to minus numbers and picking it up (which makes it invisible but still there), but at the cashier don't have option to cash back the chips, so only problem is with the last part of the glitch.

"Getting to negative numbers" sounds like you are exceeding the number of chips that the game variable can hold (which is a known problem). Typically this is due using a "signed integer" variable which is limited to −32,768 to 32,767. When the latter (positive value) is exceeded, the value representation flips over to negative due to how the binary bit pattern is handled. Limit yourself to less than 32,767 and you should avoid that particular problem.

I vaguely recall that JIP LN NVSE (or one of those addons) fixed that representation issue in the game engine as it causes other problems.
