lucas141
Hi guys, I'm not sure if this issue has been posted already, but since it's kind of a complex situation I assumed it would be best to just describe it instead. So here's the situation: I have (had) Vortex installed on C:// , while Skyrim, the game I'm currently having issues with, is in E:// . No big deal here, even running on two different locations it was running smoothly. That is, until my Windows exploded and I had to format C://. With that, my game and mods folder was left intact on E://, but Vortex was completely wiped out since it was on C://.After formatting, I got Vortex back on C:// but as expected, it didn't recognize the mods. I renamed my old mod staging folder to skyrimse2 and setup the folders again, since it didn't let me use the old folder. After having a new completely blank skyrimse vortex folder, I just copied the contents of my old one into the new and it "worked", now it showed all the mods as disabled even though they were still in the game folder. Game run smoothly after that. That is, until I tried to install 01 new mod. After that it wouldn't let me do anything after giving me a warning that those mods were from another instance of Vortex and I needed to purge to continue. I thought that since all the mods were there but just shown as disabled, might as well just do it and get them all installed again. To my dismay, it actually got rid of all the "Disabled" mods and left me with just the 01 mod that I was trying to install. I still have my mod staging folder full with all the folders, but my actual game folder is clean and so is the Vortex mod list. That is my situation, so here's two questions I need help with.1. Is there any way I can make Vortex recognize the mods that are already in the Mod Staging folder and just deploy them again?2. Does Vortex do any kind of backup for these type of situations? I tried the "Reset to manifest" option but I already clicked on deploy quite a few times before noticing it wouldn't bring my mods back. I don't feel too bad about it cause I made a backup of the Skyrim SE folder although it's missing a few mods I added on later days, but I'm afraid if I just copy that backup over my actual wiped game, whenever I try to install a mod Vortex will just do the same thing again. - Update: After posting this I continued tinkering with it meanwhile, and I found a fix. Since my Windows was literally nuked and I couldn't backup anything myself, seems like it backed up a few things it could by itself, including appdata/roaming/vortex folder. Copying that over my new Vortex installation in appdata/roaming made it recognize all the old mods again. So if someone reading this has the same issue, check for Windows.old in your OS partition for the old appdata folder. If you don't have one... tough luck, I think.I guess this topic can be closed as answered, even though I'd still like to know if I could do something about it if I didn't find the backup from my old appdata folder.
