SKSE64 not running no matter what I do

Hi,

I know there are loads of people having the same problem and bunch of answers solving it.

However, no matter what I do, it doesn't fix my problem.

I tried exactly what all the youtube instructions and comments said about skse installation.

I tried three different mod organizing program (mod organizer2, vortex, nexusmodmanager).

and SKSE64 just won't work..!!

The latest version of skse64 for special edition in [ http://skse.silverlock.org/ ] is 2.0.17 for skyrim version 1.5.97.

My SSE version is 1.5.97.0.8. I guess the version is okay.

After I tried everything, I just ran the game by skse64_loader in administration.

I typed in 'getskseversion' and it says wrong command eventhough I ran the game with skse not even with mod organizer!!!!

What could possibly be the problem and how should I fix it?

Are you using a mod organizer to install skse64? In my opinion skse should be installed manually to avoid problems.

After you install skse64 create a shortcut to skse64_loader.exe and put it on your desktop. Remember that Steam must be running to open the game through skse64.

As a matter of course I usually run Steam, go offline, exit Steam by clicking on the x in the top right corner of the Steam page and then double clicking on the skse shortcut on my desktop. Doing it this way is not dependent on whichever mod manager you are using. Of course you do not have to go offline to play but remember if you play with Steam online your game will automatically be updated, which will probably trash your game.

I suggest you go to the Steam Skyrim Special Edition Forum and open the pinned topic Skyrim SE: Guides and Rescources by Ilja, scroll down to SKSE64 Installation Guide by Avrie.

Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately, that is exactly what I tried.

However, the instruction says that I need to create a shortcut for 'skse64_loader' and MO2 will automatically link to it but when I do that, it seems it doesn't.

I started the game with the shorcut file and the game started with no mods applied at all.

Do you know what could be the problem here?

MO 2 Does not run shortcuts, it runs executable's .

you link to the loader directly and it will run.

The problem is that you didn't follow the instructions in the SKSE64 readme.

When installing SKSE64 don't use MO2, even have MO2 open, otherwise you won't be able to get SKSE64 working.

However, I've tried three different moding programs (vortex, nexusmodmanager, mod organizer2) and all three didn't workout as well.

I just tried downloading the skse without my antivirus program and tried with three programs and still the same.

you know what ,Just out of boredom, I installed this game, I installed the dev versions of MOD Organizer and then In installed the Skse script extender program, and I am online with steam.

I have to tell ya, this thing works Just fine. So, what ever others are doing? they are doing things wrong.

This IS a no brainer. So be wise where your advice comes from. And I'm one of those whom is not an advocate for using the loader tools. I prefer vanilla my self. less confusion.

Thanks for checking it out.

My currnet mod manager version is 2.2.2.1 and the photo of yours says its 2.3.0.

Where should I download that version of mod manager?

to start with, do not spam the devs, do not go there and ask all kinds of question or expect support.

you go that, and join the discord group , you leave them alone, you go to the dev Build releases and simply download the very latest available WIP.

Location-and-Item.jpg

You do not post links to the materials period.

you do not upload any thing from there to any other web site.

you follow the rules and every one's happy.

Be that Fly on the way, things always change. the one things that remains the same is functions.

In this world, every thing breaks.

you need to request or get an invite to the discord server. If a dev see's this post, he or she might send one to you in the PM.

Be smart.
