AnimeOtaku102
I don't think it really makes sense for Maven to become Jarl, she practically ruled Riften already, so the title would only be a formality that brings with it some inconveniences: she'll have to deal with petitioners from all over the Rift (which is outside her core meadery business' concern and she already shows a great disdain for dealing with anyone below her, imagine what it'll be like if that's her job), deal with the warrior-centric culture of Skyrim's political system (as a merchant she only had to bribe the right people around the Jarls, as Jarl she'll have to deal with them face-to-face and hope they don't challenge her to a ritual duel), and her connections with the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves' Guild becomes a liability (in that any rumors of such increase the chances of her being challenged to a duel by the justice-loving, ritual-murder-makes-right Jarls). Maven really should have remained the shadow ruler and let Liala's Imperial-friendly son take over.
Rooker75
Riften is screwed regardless of who wins the war. Their leader will be either Skyrim's biggest arse or its most oblivious.
fraquar
Just as it should be for the home of the Thieves Guild.
