Kpnut
My old laptop died on me and i had to reinstall Drdagon age: Origins on the new one (through Steam) and it works fine with the official DLC but the minute I install any third part content to the game, no matter how small I get a CTD whenever I select a character to play or attempt to make a new one. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game many times trying to solve the problem but nothing works and i know it has nothing to do with any mod requirements as even the smallest mod with no requirements other then having the game itself cause it to CTD. Any help would appreciated
Thandal
Need details on which mods you've tried, whether singly or in multiples, and where they have been installed, before can even begin to troubleshoot.
Kpnut
The mod I tried on it's own was the "A Better Wynne" mod. which I installed into my override folder I also tried with Pineappletree's Vibrant Colours, More Hairstyles and the Vibrant Colours and More Hairtyles fix mods, which where all installed through the DAmodder. And that was about it since I wanted to test the water a bit before installing anything else in case problems like the one i mentioned occurred. Thandal
Well, "Better Wynne" is just a .mor file, right? So what is your OS, (including 32-/64-bit, as applicable) and exactly what is it named (after extraction) and exactly where are you putting it? Kpnut
Yeah Better Wynne is just a .mor file. My OS is Windows 7 and it's a 64-bit A better Wynne is named hf_genfl_wynne,mor and I'm putting it in Libraries/Documents/Bioware/Dragon Age/packages/core/override
Thandal
Looks to me like you're missing one folder level in that path: "\Libraries\Documents\My Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\packages\core\override" The non-"symbolic-link", fully-qualified path being "C:\Users\<username>\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\packages\core", but they should equate to the same location. (Also, not sure about non-US versions of Windows, but would that have been a " . ", and not a " , " between the filename and the extension?) Kpnut
the , comes from me hitting the , key instead of the . key purely a spelling mistake. so should I try installing the mods by going through C:\Users\<Username>\Documents\Bioware\Dragon Age\packages\core rather then the way I usually do it (libraries\documents\Bioware\Dragon Age\core\override)? Thandal
Hard to tell if there's really a difference in those two paths. "Libraries" is a placeholder for any one of a variety of paths, and can include multiple different ones. Another example is the "Library" for "Music", which can include the files from all the different folders which contain standard music files. If you open your "File Explorer", navigate to the specific folder, then click in the address bar at the top, it will display the "true" path to the folder instead of the symbolic-link name. Here's the default "Library" display:http://dragonage.nexusmods.com/images/1678793-1357790590.png Here's the same location after clicking in the address bar:http://dragonage.nexusmods.com/images/1678793-1357790668.png

Kpnut
I did that and it appears the same way as your in the second image. Also I've installed mods for DA2 into the DA2 override folder and the game works fine (DA2 not DA:O)
