Brighid Posted June 18, 2004 Share Posted June 18, 2004 I've heard some say he was some sort of Schizophrenic, (you know, hearing voices, talking to g-d, and having g-d talk back, delusions of grandeur, threatening to destroy the temple, beating up rabbis, etc.) :blink: I would say, if you believe the stories he would be the ultimate liberal. Probably more socialist. He hung out with the whores and lepers. He advocated taking care of all people. He wanted rich people to give their possesions to the poor. He advocated nonviolence, (until he decided to trash the temple) the stories place him as far from right wing as a person can possibly get. He would be executed by the American government or at least be imprisoned, because he is "a danger towards the public safety due to revolutionary oppinions, actions and speeches". Real reason: He would critize the government totally and help the underdogs of the society (poor people, drug users, prostitutes etc. etc.), they would even worship him and become his followers, the government gets afraid and arrests him, because they think that this will end in a revolution. Although he spent most of his life working among the poor, he didn't do anything to make them richer or make the rich poorer and make everbody even because he was too busy teaching that material wealth counts for nothing in Heaven... If I find the referance to this verse i will update my post with it until then I have no proof that its there except my word. So, you choose to believe it or not.
