Aribell
i have dilligently searched the internets and found a few matching problems but no solution. their posts just end with no help from anyone. that is why if you help me i will in turn help them and unclutter the forums of at least a few whiny noobs such as myself. my game almost never CTD's aside from 2 instances. instance one is at fort linchal if i get anywhere near it. possibly only when the shade of the revenant is present. untested and not a big deal. the big deal is that i cannot go into any of the mages guild quest caves without a CTD. (well spring, dark fissure, the alied ruin,) it started with wellspring b/c of the necros i think .several others have this problem across the web and nobody is answering. this guy has the same problem http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/159722-dark-fissure-crashes-when-i-try-to-enter/ he has roughly the same load list as me another guy suspected OOO clashing with FCOM? i really dont know enough about these kinds of things to fix it myself and am begging someone to please help solve this for everyone. we downloaded the best you guys had to offer and i, at least, followed all of the instructions and read up on all of the conflicts but it seems we all missed this. IF , and only if, this happens no matter where in the game it occurs. My next question would be, how many hours are on this game? Bolivian is the root of the GECK and forfather of fallout so I can relate to how it works. The fallout3 geck has Remnants of Oblivion codes and instruction still in it. I can suggest, carful study near one selected entrance and one by one remove from the bottom of the load order each mod. before starting this back up that saved game, remove all other saved games from that folder so you can consentrate on only determing the faults. when you are able to enter with out CTD. stop, Move that last unticked or removed mod from the data folder and start to add back in one at a time till it crashes again. NOTE: the saved game should not be altered by very much if any, what your looking for is a correlation between what ever code is united among all mods or is effecting the Entire line up. Once found, and Eliminated so you can play the game. Stop and clear out all mods, and take that bad one apart, find out whats wrong with it or contact the author for help with it. Best I can offer you. Kitty.
Aribell
More info: I believe it is connected to a spawn of an enemy type or an item that one such enemy might carry. The item or enemy type is very common as 90% of the attempts to enter fail with a CTD (crash to desktop). I think I can narrow down the mods that might affect necromancer associated enemies and necromancer items but I have no idea how to recognize an error or missing file or conflict. This is why I implore the help of the authors of these amazing works and other expert modders to help not just me but the 10+ people who have also posted. If you have found that your load order is not at fault, then I have for you a quest. This part is not for the faint of heart, as this quest has many pit falls. Acquire you, Wyre Bash, and within its Bain Installer place all your mod install files. Order them as you wish to install, knowing that later installs will overwrite conflicting files. Now, beginning from the unofficial patch, install it, and look at the conflicts tab. Install each mod in succession, checking again the conflicts tab until you find which mod over writes which files. Decide in turn which mod shall win the battle, and change the install order. Such crashes often happen with resource conflicts. Read the lore to understand how these happen http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/775917-compatibility-and-you/Most often, these conflicts can be fixed by cleaning your mods.Follow these directions: http://cs.elderscrolls.com/index.php/TES4Edit_Cleaning_Guide Fare thee well and good journey! Aribell
I have wrye bash and boss and use both. I also have all unofficial patches. I am many hours into the game and this only started with the mages guild quests involving necromancers.
talveren
I have wrye bash and boss and use both. I also have all unofficial patches. I am many hours into the game and this only started with the mages guild quests involving necromancers. Then I'd look for resource conflicts. TES4edit will help with that. Aribell
I know you are trying to help, but what can tes4edit see that boss and wrye bash can't. And how can I get tes4edit to see my wrye bash bashed patch and load order. I could use some instructions here on exactly what I am supposed to do with that program. talveren
I know you are trying to help, but what can tes4edit see that boss and wrye bash can't. And how can I get tes4edit to see my wrye bash bashed patch and load order. I could use some instructions here on exactly what I am supposed to do with that program. You don't want to use TES4edit on your load order or bashed patch. TES4edit modifies mods directly. What I'm getting at is what's called cleaning your mods. What that means is two things. The first is removing entries that are exact duplicates of components in Oblivion.esm. The second is un deleting entries and disabling entries in your mods. The second part means that mods delete components in vanilla Oblivion that other mods expect to be there. These are the directions. http://cs.elderscrolls.com/index.php/TES4Edit_Cleaning_Guide I made a video of how to do the simplest cleaning. It's below. Also, would you post your actual load order? Using someone else's doesn't really help because we can't look at what mods you actually run. You can grab it in Wyre bash by going to the Mods tab, right clicking on the column header, and clicking List Mods. You'll get the list in a window that will also be in your clipboard. You can then paste it where ever you want. Here's some quick videos. BACKUP your Oblivion\Data folder so you can revert if you need to.
