Red 'X' floating above player?

I recently built a new PC and felt like resurrecting my old Skyrim save game after a few years of not playing, but I had to rebuild my mod list mostly from memory. I got most of the same mods installed and am able to successfully load my latest save file without issues other than this obnoxious red X floating above my character. I have tried everything I can think of to fix it to no avail, and I am at a loss. If anyone has any idea what's causing this and can point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks all.

The X typically indicates a missing mesh. The pic looks like your char is wearing something on their head but the mesh is missing for some reason. You'll need to determine what it is and what mod it's from.

I was also thinking it was something like that, and went though all my mods and reinstalled them and used LOOT to properly order everything. All her head gear is accounted for as far as I can tell. She only has hair in the pic. All her other items seem to be functioning normally. I thought to drop all her inventory items thinking it was a broken item, but that didn't help. I ran the file through the Save Cleaner Tool and that also didn't fix it. Weird thing about this is it is only visible when she is outside. It disappears when in interiors, then reappears when back outside.

Does it happen on a new character?

 

Something is attached to your PC. You could try opening the console and click on the x to get a formID. The first 2 numbers indicate the mod in your load order.

I also have had this problem but during my game the red Xs seems to pass overhead every few meters like weigh-points.

Also it does not appear in the console so I can't click on it.
