None1980
Sorry if this isn't the right place for this. Anyway, I'm building a new system and I was just wondering, how well will a 7850 2GB card (likely overclocked) handle Skyrim with mods? I know it will be fine without them, but how will it fair once I start running hi-rez textures and possibly an ENB mod and who knows what else? I might be able to fit a 7870 into my budget, so I'd like to know about that, too, but for now I'm leaning towards the 7850. Also, one more thing, is Skyrim a 64 bit game? I've never played it before, so I don't know, but it seemed being 32 bit caused the Fallout games some trouble when running a lot of mods. Thanks. UDK450
While I just installed my XFX Radeon HD 7870 a few days ago, and have not played Skyrim too awfully much, it seems to do pretty well with ENB mods and higher textures and such. When you first start up the game, and the world loads, things can lag a little when turning around, but after a bit, every thing catches up, and I have little to no problem with the lag. FiftyTifty
Lag is incorrect usage. Correct terminology is "framerate drops". When turnin' and transitioning cells, that is caused by having (relatively) slow read speeds, as your CPU waits for your HDD to serve up the data. Defragging can help, as can using FancyCache. tyrannynexus
i'm using a 7850 2gb and it runs the game fine with all high res textures ect ect. However i do have a core i7 3770k cpu. Either way both of those are very high end cards and will get the job done.
UDK450
Hmm. I do have a 5400rpm, so I could see that I am potentially experiencing said "framerate drops". Been thinking of upgrading to a caviar black, or even a Velociraptor, for just game storage.
FiftyTifty
Games like fast drives. Get a Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm. Best hard drives out there. You can get a 3TB one @ Aria for £85. Edited January 9, 2013 by FiftyTifty
UDK450
Velociraptor is like 10000rpm. I would get the 500gb because that is all I would ever need for video games. For a long while, at least.

Also, what resolution do you play at? I'll be using an i5 3570k (just picked it up today, actually, $149.99 seemed like a steal), think it will offer similar performance? From all the benches I've seen, they seem pretty close in games. Hmm. I do have a 5400rpm, so I could see that I am potentially experiencing said "framerate drops". An SSD would probably be a good upgrade for you, just get a decent sized one, say 128GB and use that for your OS and games, then leave everything else on the slower drive. Or upgrade both if you have the cash. This would be a good upgrade: Link The Caviar Blue drive could be swapped for something else, but for its purpose, it's fine. The M4 could also be swapped for a different SSD, but this one is well known for being a solid drive Edited January 10, 2013 by None1980

I get 80 FPS in skyrim.
UDK450
When you ask for the FPS, do you mean with or without ENB?
