Arjai
I downloaded brurpo's AK47 mod, and for my own personal use, I wanted to make a mod for myself that gave just the Xuanlong assault rifle brurpo's AK47 mesh and textures. I'm trying to do this on the GECK. I figured out how do load his mesh in the Model box, but I've been having trouble applying his textures to it correctly. I put all his stuff in my data folder. I renamed his mesh file to simply "AK47," and the GECK didn't seem to mind. I similarly renamed his texture files (1stpersonassaultrifle02 --> 1stpersonAK4702, etc.), but they never showed up for me to apply them in the box that shows you the weapon model; only the vanilla textures showed up, and then only some of them (the only weapon textures that appeared were the 1stperson ones). I tried giving his texture files their original names again (meant to mimic the vanilla ones I gather), and I had partial success. I managed to get... 1stpersonassaultrifle02.dds to apply to the model correctly. This is so dadgum frustrating. How do I make this work? I've downloaded A LOT of other textures from this site so I could replace stuff with them in the GECK and make a big plugin for myself to my own liking. cooleo
You can't in geck you have to use a program like NifSkope to apply the new texture to the model.
Arjai
Damn. Well thanks, I'll go find some place where I can get NifSkope and teach myself how to use it well enough to do what I want.
stephanie
I don't think NifSkope works with Fallout 3 nifs yet ..
SpeedyB64
Nifskope works. There are some bugs though. You cant reopen a fallout nif once it has been saved or used by the game.
stephanie
So, it doesn't work then?
SpeedyB64
If you extract a nif from the bsa files nifskope opens it fine. It is possible to set up the nif so that it can be saved and reopened by changing some numbers then it will reopen, you just change the numbers back and save it for fallout and keep the other one so you can edit it. cj577
You can't in geck you have to use a program like NifSkope to apply the new texture to the model. Actually thats not toally true you can use Texture Sets in Geck to apply textures.
