BillytheCrayon
OK. I am after building a house with the hearthfire mod. I also cleared out the Dark Brotherhood, and finished that story line. Now, I want to be able to adopt Aventus Arentino. The game will not let me. I want to do this through the hearthfire mod, not through some follower mod. I've seen a post on this forum via a google search on this request, but it turned into more of a troll fest, and don't think anyone actually did it. I just want him as a regular adoptable child, not some weird quest around it to make him a sociopathic murderer. just to clear this up, he is at the orphanage, but after i unlock the ability to adopt, i can talk to all the children, and consider them for adoption, except for him. when I click on him, he gives a piece of dialogue, and walks away, it won't let you talk to him. just the others. Deleted1308005User
I thought I was able to adopt him when I was picking out kids.. That's what I was thinking. It takes couple of days (or more), but he will get back to orphanage and you can adopt him.

You can't. he is at the orphanage now, and you can talk to all the children, to consider them for adoption, except him. when you click on him, he just gives a dialogue, and walks away, it won't let you talk to him. according to many sources, (UESP wiki, and such) they did not make him adoptable. dragonchris152
I would help, but I can't get hearthfire open on the creation kit. I'm thinking it probably works similarly to followers and all that needs to be done is have him in potential adopt and adopted factions or whatever they're called. Since all children use the same voice actors it should work fine. I could be wrong on this however, as I've never looked at hearthfire and can't get it open. If your willing to do a little bit of work yourself open up the creation kit and try doing what I just said. As I said I'd help you, but I can't get hearthfire open. I believe you can get your hearthfire to open in the creation kit, but installing this http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/25146 It just changes the SkyrimEditor.ini file I'm not a modder myself, so I don't know how involved it is to make someone adoptable. BillytheCrayon
So, i'm willing to bet this is straight up not possible, as no one has been able to do it yet, and it doesn't look like anyone else is trying. :(
Xion209
Try selecting him in the console and type "setrace child" without quotes. I don't have Hearthfire so I can't test this myself.
