Job4aCowboy Posted January 10, 2013 Share Posted January 10, 2013 Hey, I'm fairly new to PC gaming and modding (just converted from console gaming and wonder why I didn't sooner). Had a play around with the creation kit so i'm kind of familiar on how it works. What i'm trying to do is remove the starting spells (eg. Flames, Sparks and Healing) from races when I create a new character. I'm using and quite like the mod "Alternate Start - Live another life" so would like to make it compatible with this.I've had a look around the creation kit and can't figure out how to do it, and all searches I do yield little or no results. I tried a mod that removes the starting spells but it's not compatible with Alternate start (It crashes after the Bethesda intro Movie) This mod is just for my own use, I don't plan on uploading it. gamefever Posted January 10, 2013 Share Posted January 10, 2013 Hate to tell you this but I'm not sure where to start you just have to tackle stuff like this by learning from the tuturails out there, I visit UTube even to find tuts. There's a sticky here that has a ton of posting's pointing to guides for ppl that have a burning desire to mod. Google starting spells mybe you'll get a good result. But honestly I'd have to say really think about how much time your going to put into learning that and how little you know abou the process of applying mods to your game. Nothing and I mean nothing is a quick snap. I've had a mod take a whole 2 months of waking hours to build. Yesterday I took pieces from UNP Mashup and Sovernguard put them together in Nifskope to combine them into one chestpiece took me 4 hours to get it all figured out. A month ago I made and released an original armor mod that took a whole 6 weeks to install, find tuts, follow guides, create, impliment, playtest, and then release. I wasn't playing a game during those times and I'll tell you even good stuff sometimes doesn't take off like it should, honestly it can be dissappointing.But hey when you get started it can be like a bug and well once you've got so many hours, days, weeks, if you stop all that time is for nothing. I'd check around first and make sure it isn't something else in your load orderalso take a look at this http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/19281 Thats Requim this guy says he's already done what your asking in his overhual. -but hey you want to make it, look at how other's have done it and mimick what they did in the CK. Can't find anything, surely this is just a simple case of changing the race's or a script. Problem is I can't find anything to change in the CK. I found the racial abilities in Character/Race, but i don't want to change them. And in Actor/Presets there are the starting spells but when I loaded up another mod that removes starting spells they where untouched so it can't be that. I want to get into modding and I understand the concepts behind it, I have already watched hours of video tutorials and read tutorial pages. The incompatibility definitely isn't load order, as soon as I unchecked the .esp for the mod the game worked fine. I understand about load order and how to install mods. Watched loads of tutorials on that too. Thanks for the other mod recommendation, but I'm staying away from overhauls.
