Dunno. /edit After talking with another member here on the Nexus (Doedel) and a couple others we've decided to set up a co-operation project of sorts. This isn't a full-scale project with deadlines and such but rather a group of modders working together to make our mods as compatible as possible that focus specifically expanding the Fallout 3 game and locations. As of now there are only two modders working on this (Me and Doedel) but hopefully we can gather a few more modders interested in this type of Project. Currently, I'm working on an Expanded Exploration mod which will give access to the hundreds of blocked off buildings found throughout the game Link and Doedel is working on a mod which will expand and enhance the various settlements scattered throughout the game. Link If anyone is interested in working with us and having our mods as compatible as possible either send me or Doedel a PM or just post here, whatever works. If we get enough folks interested we'll set up a better form of communication. Possible things to expand: -The random encounters throughout the game (both enemies and locations)-A new (large-ish?) Vault (Maybe turn this into a city/refugee area somehow?)-Increasing the size/scope of current dungeons and tunnels (Large trams, bigger vaults, better tunnels)-Whatever else that can be thought of which focuses specifically on expanding on the experience in the Wasteland/DC areas. Triumph675 Posted December 13, 2008 Share Posted December 13, 2008 Hello, I've just started creating some random places/interesting things to see. Think of the random encounters of Fallout 1 and 2. So far I have 1 interior almost done and have an idea for a group of people you meet. Has anyone found a way to create random encounters... IE. Stopping fast travel and teleporting you to the random encounter? Or are you talking more of just things you can find wandering the wastelands? If this is doable I would be a happy camper. If not I have plans on just redoing some of the bland dungeons. I've got a total remake of the school going right now, which will involve a quest. I also planned on redoing super duper mart into a raider jet lab. Complete with a boss character inside and realistic loot for the enemy difficulty. Khet Posted December 13, 2008 Author Share Posted December 13, 2008 It'd be hard to script the random encounter while fast traveling since you'd have to figure out where they were standing before travel, and then where they were going and place them somewhere between those two points. As for redoing some dungeons and such that's exactly the thing we're looking for. But, if you do the Super Duper Mart be sure not to mess up the quest that's related to it! One thing that I thought of is perhaps we could expand the borders of the Wasteland and completely build those areas from scratch, though it'd conflict with the in-game map. That's disappointing, I wanted to do a random encounter where you find "Juice" prisoner, being carried off by a few Brotherhood of Steel men. And have them reference the OJ Simpson trials. I had been watching Doedel and Khet they both have REALLY COOL Mods and they are working so they can CO-Exist together thats really cool for me. And its really facinating because i am a MOD LOVER ( Morrowind,Oblivion,and every modable game out there ) for me watching These guys helping each other to create a Butt-Kicking Mod for this Butt-Kicking Game its ROCK SOLID GOOD! And again Triumph675 i rembered that when i went to a certain Location i found this woman asking me for help ¨Please Sir,HELP ME!!, the raiders have implanted this Collar to me , and its Full of EXPLOSIVES!!¨ and then i couldn´t help her and she goes running again and BooooooM, there she goes, well her pieces..well thats like and Encounter right? well its not ¨THAT¨ random but its kinda cool but you NEVER get to save her....... And if i even knew how to mod i would be defenitely helping out. And i just downloaded the G.E.C.K. its REALLY similar , well for me its IDENTICAL to the Oblivion´s CS but i just cant remember my OBLIVION modding days....sorry guys but if you need me I AM 100% Here , and BTW i dont even do ANYTHING at my house , soo i could be at Any time And Sorry for my Bad English :D Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Doedel Posted December 14, 2008 Share Posted December 14, 2008 The way I believe the random encounter system works is that throughout the wasteland world there are several "random encounter zones" where, if you pass through them, something random may occur, from a list of random encounters. The exploding bomb is one random encounter, and there are lots more -- everything from running into Slavers with captured Slaves, Snipers trying to blow your head off, friendly talking Super-Mutants, super-powerful alien weaponry falling from the sky in a huge explosion, dead Chinese soldiers, people fighting over water, etc etc. Theoretically it should be rather easy to work in new random encounters. They'll appear randomly just like the others (variably more or less depending on how you'd want it). So yeah, having an OJ Simpson reference random encounter would be possible.. personally I like the exploding bomb best. My first encounter with it was not long after starting theg ame for the first time. Had someone run up to me screaming, then run off around a corner, and BOOM!
