expansion Posted December 27, 2008 Share Posted December 27, 2008 It'd be hard to script the random encounter while fast traveling since you'd have to figure out where they were standing before travel, and then where they were going and place them somewhere between those two points. You could make non-random "random" encounters at set points. If player is traveling from outside near the capital TO Megaton, have a chance at stopping at Encounter A or B. If player is traveling from Megaton to any of the locations in NE corner of world map, have a chance at stopping at Encounter C or D or E. Throw in about 20 of them ( and few specific ones for easter eggs ) and it won't feel as scripted. Similar things could be done for sleeping / waiting. Sleep in a bed in the middle of a merc camp/cave for too long and you have a chance at waking up in the Slaver Town and have to find your way out.... I don't know if this is feasible or not, although I started to look into it in the geck. Being able to place a chance percentage that you encounter a random encounter, when exiting the sewer system. Say you have a 3% chance when you exit the sewers you end up in the random encounter, than you exit the encounter it teleports you back to that same door. You would get the same one always at that door, but the actually chances to hit it, are 1 or 2 in a game. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

There should at least be some more organized food production (not just hunters), especially if you increase the number of NPCs. So it would be nice with some "brahmin farms" in the wasteland. Maybe one big farm, with a farmowner, guards and some slaves and stuff. I'm also considering asking for anyone interested in adding stories or quests to my locations. I dislike code, but I love building things....so I'm at a point where I may need assistance....may...if it's constructive assistance... ;] First one is already complete and on the nexus.
