Malchik
Okay, this is the last riddle I know so I'd better not guess any more. The leader of a country is not the brightest spark in the universe. He realises that, if his country is to keep its edge he needs clever people to advise him. These advisers will have considerable power with plenty of scope for making a fortune out of corruption, swindling and blackmail (aka lobbying). He persuades his daughter to access the internet and find a riddle potential advisers can be tested by. This is what they come up with. The applicant must choose between two rooms given the following information. The rooms either contain access to a numbered Swiss Bank Account containing $400,000,000 or an immediate five year posting to the most dangerous country in the world. The sign on the door to room 1 reads - At least one room has a numbered account. The sign on the door to room 2 reads - The other room has a numbered account. You have applied for the job and are facing the test. The leader, reading from instructions printed in large easy letters, gives you more information. The rooms might both contain numbered accounts, they might both contain dangerous postings, or perhaps one contains a numbered account and the other a dangerous posting. Additionally, if there is a numbered account is in room 1, the sign on the door is true; while if there is a dangerous posting in room 1, the sign is false. The situation is just the opposite for room 2. Now perhaps the leader has not given you enough information and is expecting you to tell him it is not safe to go into either room with absolute certainty. But you'd like the money and, more particularly, the power. What do you say/do? Any answer must be accompanied by an explanation. BTW this is an adaptation of a standard US schoolbook question. If you know the answer from school, please don't spoil it for others.
tyjet3
Can you ask the doors quetions or something?
Malchik
No, they are doors. BTW - this is considered fairly easy! You wouldn't want a difficult one!
tyjet3
Ok, if i read this right then there are only four possibilities- -Door1-Acc Door2-Dan -Door1-Dan Door2-Acc -Door1-Acc Door2-Acc -Door1-Dan Door2-Dan Two of these is impossible because of the rules... -Door1-Dan Door2-Acc Because If Door one is Dangerous then that mean no door can have the acc because the sign would be telling the truth but it isn't (at least one room) -Door1-Dan Door2-Dan Basically the same reason... This is what's left: -Door1-Acc Door2-Acc -Door1-Acc Door2-Dan So that leaves it to being either both doors are the accounts or door one is the account and door 2 is dangerous. So that means that Door 1 is safe in both situations. Therefore I pick Door 1!!!
Malchik
You haven't quite completed the logic. There is only one possibility. Check out what happens if they both have accounts behind them. Then the statement on door two has to be false and yet it isn't! I'll give it to you. I'm off now for the weekend. Ciao a tutti!
tyjet3
Check out what happens if they both have accounts behind them. Then the statement on door two has to be false and yet it isn't! Yeah, you're right... But I would still pick door 1! Ok, well here is the next riddle: A man is pushing his car. He stops at a Hotel. He talks to the owner and says, "Thanks, now I'm bankrupt." Explain...

Hir_Nesta
Did they make a bet? (like; if u push your car from there to there in this time you win, else all your money is mine) Does "bankrupt" mean: no money? Does "bankrupt" mean: my business is ruined? Did he start to push the car from the hotel? (like a circuit)
