Guys, is there a simple way to fast port my mods from NMM here?

Hi there.

So, folks told me (conviced me) to turn to Vortex. That's fine but... I have a tone of mods. I want to save the time (over a week) to re-install all the damn mods to Vortex.
Is there any way, a "fast way" in Vortex, to somehow "port" all my mods to Vortex from NMM???

That would be wonderful, to spare so many hours of re-install them all again.

I would be glad for any help, please.

I found this article, says to do it myself:

Best way to transfer from NMM to Vortex is to ignore the "Import from..." button and do it yourself.

Steps are as follows (please make sure to read the notes after, or before reading, this list):

  1. Uninstall all mods through NMM.

  2. Go to NMM's download folder (path should show up in Settings somewhere) and Cut all the downloads.

  3. Paste all downloads into Vortex's download folder.

  4. Use NMM's purge function (to delete all of the files that NMM has placed into the game folder)

  5. Verify game with steam to ensure all changes.

  6. Install mods using Vortex (as Vortex doesn't have the metadata, you'll need to double click on the mod, change the mod source to Nexus Mods and select the appropriate file. If you can't, the only way to get the proper metadata is to download the mod through Vortex).

  7. Solve "conflicts" in the "Mods" section of Vortex to tell Vortex which mod you want to be loaded into the game (used for textures/scripts... etc mostly).

  8. Adjust plugin placement in "Plugins" section by modifying it's group, accessed by double clicking on it (most of the time, you don't actually need to do this, people think it's necessary to micro-manage all plugins when they just need to shove ~5 of them into a later group and ignore the rest)

  9. Hit deploy button (Vortex should automatically deploy mods, but I recommend turning it off if you need to deal with more than 5 mods. Some people get hasty, ignore the fact that Vortex is in the middle of deploying, and cause the program to break) to make sure the files get deployed into the game folder.

*If you dislike having to reinstall all mods and either manually telling the program to grab the metadata/redownload mods, I recommend staying with NMM for now and switch over to Vortex when you're readdy to start modding from scratch again.

*Metadata is basically the information that Vortex uses to find out if a mod has an update whenever you hit the "Check mod updates" button

As messy as it seems, I agree with that list. Only minor difference I would have is select all mods in the NMM download folder and drag them to the Vortex Drop Here area. Actually installing with Vortex is quick and easy. Avoiding internet downloads is the main thing.

Vortex offers a direct import, but some users have found it problematic. I would not use it.
